A country village mystery set amidst amateur theatricals, specifically Shakespeare‘s Measure for Measure.
The story doesn‘t not play (ha!) out as expected, compete with a shocking twist.

I greatly enjoyed this American mystery classic, as well as finally finishing the selection of the month for #goldenagecrimeclub that I could actually join the discussion! Crane‘s sense of setting makes the reader feel like they are in New Mexico. Lots of great descriptions, red herrings, and quirky characters. I would gladly read book 2 of this series (there are 26!). #192025 #1941
I enjoyed this Golden Age mystery about a retired governess who helps a former pupil by investigating mysterious events at a combination nursing home and boarding school. The story was creepy and suspenseful but also had touches of humour, and the characters were great.
Thanks to @Mitch for hosting this group read as part of the #goldenagecrimeclub!

This is Fitzgerald's last, unfinished novel. Set in Hollywood, it's the story of Monroe Stahr, a studio manager. This wasn't my favorite book by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it was just ok.

A delightful find while on a road trip vacation. A few gems are in this book and I marvel at her prowess in the kitchen. There are a few recipes I never would have thought to create. Her support of American wines in 1941 caught my attention. #vintage #vintagecookbook #winesandspines #1941
