Laughterhp It‘s so great you are doing this. I appreciate it! 4y
Liz_M It's difficult to find, and apparently the translation is not excellent, but the tagged book is fairly epic with an interesting twist. I got it from the Minneapolis Public Library. I also recommend books by Machado de Assis. 4y
SamAnne This is great. Thank you! 4y
alisiakae I think I'm going to read this one, if I can get my hands on a copy, which was on the Int'l Booker longlist in 2016 4y
alisiakae Here's a debut novel by a young Brazilian-American author 4y
Butterfinger Is he the same as Joaquim Marie Machado? @Liz_M

If you have other suggestions, please keep them coming. I'm thinking of K or My German Brother and Indigenous Youth in Brazilian Amazonia. I hope people won't have trouble finding a title. @4thhhouseontheleft if I can find a copy, I'll send it to you.

Butterfinger @Laughterhp @SamAnne you are welcome. I'm having a blast. I can't wait to see what everyone will be preparing to eat. 4y
alisiakae @Butterfinger My library does have both Crow Blue and It Is Wood, It Is Stone, so I've got some to choose from! I want to read at least one that is in translation, and Crow Blue fits. 4y
alisiakae And my library also has Here The Whole Time so I have a lot to choose from! I‘m trying not to buy any books right now since we are still in short term housing until the new house is done! 4y
Laughterhp I think I‘m going to try and read It is Wood, It is Stone and The War of the end of the world. I‘m able to get both via my library. 4y
Liz_M @Butterfinger According to wikipedia, yes: “Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis, often known as Machado de Assis...“ 4y
Butterfinger @4thhouseontheleft I don't want anyone to feel that they have to buy a book. 4y
Liz_M For more ideas (ymmv), there is a “Brazilian Literature' tag on LibraryThing: https://www.librarything.com/tag/Brazilian+literature 4y
