I should probably be more consistent with the title I post these pics under. Hmmm... Anyway, it‘s that time again! This month I rescued 7.5 lbs of books and comics from the landfill. Austin and surrounding areas kept over 23 tons of various forms of media out of local landfills in August. Sounds good to me!

monkeygirlsmama I think the concept of weighing and tracking like this is so cool. Never been anywhere that does it. 7y

jpmcwisemorgan @CandycaneBelle Honestly, I don‘t know. I could try to find out more information the next time I‘m in. Recycled Reads takes in donations and sells them, plus books removed from the library shelves. Proceeds support the local libraries. They started being obvious about the weighing more recently, though. 7y

jpmcwisemorgan @CandycaneBelle Thrift stores like Savers and Goodwill also keep track of how much product comes in and goes out. I don‘t see why other organizations can‘t do the same. 7y

jpmcwisemorgan @monkeygirlsmama Savers and Goodwill both so this. About 5 or 6 years ago Savers actually started calling it recycling but it‘s really reselling. Anything that couldn‘t be sold was bagged or baked and sold to other vendors for other markets or recycling/repurposing. They just didn‘t always consistently share how much wasn‘t going to landfills. 7y

So i've been wanting something to store my sunglasses but do not want to pay the money for a really nice showcase that i can make myself. Soooo until i figure something else this will do.. i recycled my old BOTM boxes, punched a hole in the blue bottom of the box thingy they always put, took an old hair tie i dont like and wal la!

Louise Wow, that's quite a collection of sunglasses! I have one battered pair! Maybe I should consider having two pairs! 😂😎 7y

I bought little board books to paint earlier today. If anyone is interested, I'll take pictures as I paint them and post. Otherwise I'll only post the finished pieces. Probably won't happen until early to mid October though.
