⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We listened to this one over two days as we drove from IL to FL, and it was so fun going back to the beginning of a story I know so well. Rowling really is a master at building characters, and Jim Dale is a fantastic narrator!

I‘ve read this many times but I wanted to add it as a book I read for last year. Of course, I am fan hence the return to the series. The goal is to reread all 7 by the end of 2022.

Another reason to participate in the #potteraday (re)read, I get to listen to my favorite deep dive podcast about the books/movies now!

Linsy Ooh, I might have to try!!! I‘ve been listening to the reboot of Witch, Please and it‘s just the best! 🎧 4y
Sargar114 @Linsy thanks for the podcast recommendation. Started the Witch, Please reboot and agreed, so good!!! 4y

Forgot to start this yesterday so there will be 2 posts today. In no particular order but I'm starting with Harry Potter. While my parents and I are big readers, my brothers aren't and yet they have read this series. Probably the only books they have read not school required.

Is it too early to think about Christmas? My daughter and I have decided on a Harry Potter themed tree this year starting with these new Hallmark interactive ornaments. 🎄❄️🎄

BookwormAHN Very cool, I especially love the Hogwarts tree topper 💙 5y
Deblovestoread @BookwormAHN We picked the The topper, Harry and Ron today. They are amazing! 5y
Clwojick I've been doing the same thing with Halloween! I was falling down the Pinterest rabbit hole QUICKLY, and spent a good few hours checking out all the Halloween decor ideas. 💛 5y

Confession: I have never read any of the Harry Potter books.

Second confession: I‘ve never had any real desire to.

BUT I have assured all of HP loving friends that I will finally give it a shot this year.

I‘ve been procrastinating. There is a lot of pressure to love this book. What if I don‘t? 😱

Are there any books that people might be surprised to learn you‘ve never read?

BekaReid This was me for the longest time. I had never read HP and finally started within the past year. 1 to go... 6y
kyraleseberg Don't feed bad, I didn't read HP until I was 30. I read them all out loud to my daughter and it was a fun experience! 6y
ShyBookOwl I had never read any HP books either, but then about a year ago, I told my friends I'd finally do it. I was 28 or 29 and was curious what all the hype was about lol I read books 1-4 back-to-back. I thought they were good, but I didnt feel invested. I may have missed my window to understand the true HP love. Book 5 ended up being a DNF for me 🤷‍♀️ I hope you enjoy them! 6y

Marilyncjackson The Hunger Games I have never read them and will probably never read them. Just not interested in the story or the dystopian world 6y
Naj There's a high chance you won't find the first two books very interesting because they read more like children's books. But stick it out till book 4, that's when the series really takes off. 6y
abookishbutterfly @Naj Thanks for the heads up! 6y
abookishbutterfly @Marilyncjackson I haven‘t read those either! I have seen the movies but I don‘t think I‘ll ever have any interest in the books. 6y
abookishbutterfly @ShyBookOwl Thanks! Sometimes we are just too grown up for some magic, I think. I wish that weren‘t true! 6y
Fan_of_70 Fan of HP here! Don‘t worry if you don‘t like or love them. Not every book and/or author (even the popular ones) is for everyone. There are a few popular books/authors that I don‘t like, but I find my book-ish friends recognize that people have different likes and dislikes in books so not everyone has to like the same ones. 6y
abookishbutterfly @kyraleseberg I need to find a kid to read it to. Good idea! 😂 But, seriously, I am really glad you could enjoy that experience with your daughter. 6y
abookishbutterfly @BekaReid Cool! I‘m glad to know that I am not alone! 6y
Marilyncjackson @Butterflyamore lol I saw the first movie and thought nah not for me my husband loves them both the books and the movies. 6y
kyraleseberg @Butterflyamore Find a random kid and start reading 😂 seriously though, I'm not sure if I would've ever bothered picking the books up if not for my kid but I'm so glad that I did! It had that magic of childhood to it that I could appreciate! 6y
BennettBookworm I never read the Hunger Games series but I watched all the movies 😬 true confessions lol 6y
abookishbutterfly @kyraleseberg That‘s awesome! 6y
CouronneDhiver I gave it a try earlier this year and bailed... just couldn‘t get into it 6y
Kinda_Crazy I've read the first five while still in school. The day the sixth one came out one of my friends bought it, read it in under a day, and due to me losing a game of rock paper scissors loaned it to another friend of our. That friend, and to be honest I absolutely hated her for a few months after, got to the end of the book, slammed it shut and proceeded to SPOIL THE WHOLE THING! Who does that? As such I ha've never read the last two HP books. 6y
abookishbutterfly @Kinda_Crazy Aw, that‘s so disappointing! 6y
abookishbutterfly @CouronneDhiver At least you tried. I haven‘t even done that much! 😂 6y
sudi Never read Lord Of The Rings or Hunger Games, just watched the movies 🙈 6y
abookishbutterfly @sudi I keep saying this to everyone but... same. I guess there are a lot of popular books I haven‘t read. 6y
CBee I haven‘t read them either 🙈 6y

And tonight another young child discovered Harry Potter. These books first came out when I was in college and captivated me. It was so much fun to watch my son discover the magic. We would read at night and come into my room at the crack of dawn to read more. Look forward to continuing the series with him. #littlelittens #raisingreaders #readaloud

TheKidUpstairs I am so excited for when my guys are old enough to meet Harry. 7y
Blaire @TheKidUpstairs I love seeing it through his eyes. He is almost 6, and I‘m planning to pace the series because I think the later books may be too intense at this point. 7y

Future Litten friends! I've never read the Harry Potter series, but I've seen the movies--still worth reading? I've considered it a number of different times--usually in fall 😄Thoughts?

Aninski I don‘t know how I‘d have felt if I had watched the movies before reading the books... but I must say that I‘m rereading them for the first time and I‘m mesmerized by Rowling‘s way with the words! I was too young to realize and appreciate this when I read them for the first time – back then it was ALL about the magic. Even if I‘ve already read and watched everything, the way she writes is making it feel like a brand new experience. 👇 7y
Aninski So I think it‘s worth giving the first one a chance! Especially if you pick up the illustrated editions – they‘re SO beautiful and make everything even better! 😁 (edited) 7y
Jesstifies @Aninski cool, thanks for the info, didn't event know about the illustrated versions! 7y

Ok so the goal was to catch up with my youngest who is just begun his journey into the world of Harry Potter via the book set I bought him. I didn't feel like adding another physical book to my present list so I opted for the audio. And wow!! Loved it so much. Now I'm waiting for book too from hold at our library. Jim Dale rocks the audio indeed.

Chelleo Jim Dale is the reason I fell in love with audiobooks. 7y
BellaBookNook @Chelleo Isn't he amazing. I have some favorite audio talents too. Bahni Turpin is one of my all time favorites. https://www.audiofilemagazine.com/narrators/bahni-turpin/ 7y
Chelleo @BellaBookNook yes, she's another fave. I recently listened to 2 or 3 books back to back that she narrated...unplanned. I usually don't like books read by the author though unless it's a memoir or autobiography. 7y
