From the author of The Meryl Streep Movie Club, a heartwarming, spirit-lifting read just in time for beach season (Kirkus Reviews), comes a new novel about three women, connected in secret and surprising ways, who are in for a life-changing summer when rumor has it that actor Colin Firth is coming to their Maine town to film a movie. From the author of The Meryl Streep Movie Club, a heart-warming, spirit-lifting read just in time for beach season (Kirkus Reviews), comes a new novel about three women, connected in secret and surprising ways, who are in for a life-changing summer when rumor has it that actor Colin Firth is coming to their Maine town to film a movie. After losing her job and leaving her beloved husband, journalist Gemma Hendricks is sure that scoring an interview with Colin Firth will save her career and marriage. Yet a heart-tugging local story about women, family ties, love, and loss captures her heart and changes everything. The story concerns Bea Crane, a floundering twenty-two-year-old who learns in a deathbed confession letter that she was adopted at birth. Bea is in Boothbay Harbor to surreptitiously observe her biological mother, Veronica Russosomething of a legend in townwho Bea might not be ready to meet after all. Veronica, a thirty-eight-year-old diner waitress famous for her healing pies, has come home to Maine to face her past. But when shes hired as an extra on the bustling movie set, she wonders if she is hiding from the truth . . . and perhaps the opportunity of a real-life Mr. Darcy. These three women will discover more than they ever imagined in this coastal Maine town, buzzing with hopes of Colin Firth. Even the conjecture of his arrival inspires daydreams, amplifies complicated lives, and gives incentive to find their own romantic endings.

#LuckyInLove

Colin Firth is my #Heartthrob 💗💖💓
It‘s the eyes, the smile & especially the “smolder” that get me every time he plays the romantic lead. Fitzwilliam Darcy Mark Darcy, & Jamie in Love Actually are my favorites, but he‘s pretty cute in The Importance of Being Earnest too.

Day11 #FeistyFeb #LiteraryCrush Can Colin Firth be my literary crush?! Maybe not but he did play 2 of them: Fitzwilliam Darcy in Pride & Prejudice & Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary. In both cases I already crushed on the character before the film casting but it was perfect-those eyes! ❤️ My 3rd is Eric Northman in the Sookie Stackhouse series-my fave bad boy. Another case of character crush 1st, but casting perfection in Alexander Skarsgard.

LeahBergen Oooo... Alexander. 😛😛 8y
BooksAndTeaJulie Eric in Dead to the World was my absolute favorite!! 😍😍😍 8y
drokka I liked Connor (was that the tiger's name in the Sookie Stackhouse books). Wish they'd have cast him. I'm @LeahBergen about Alex 😍 8y

RealLifeReading Alexander Skarsgård ??? 8y
Sweettartlaura @drokka @DebinHawaii We might get another chance to see Quinn... He has a role in Charlaine Harris's Midnight, TX series, which is about to come to network TV. He wasn't in the first book, so no promises. But keep an eye on it... 8y
drokka @Sweettartlaura Ooooh, I'll have to look into that series. Thanks for the tip. 8y
Graciouswarriorprincess Great picks! 8y
DebinHawaii @Sweettartlaura @drokka I have the first book of that series downloaded but I haven't read it yet. 📚👍 8y
Sweettartlaura @DebinHawaii I really liked the series. I listened on Audible to all 3. Nothing life-changing, but good fun 🙂 8y

Entirely predictable with serious over-explanation but light and quick.
