Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name
Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name | Sally Lloyd-Jones
5 posts | 8 read
The Moonbeam Award Gold Medal Winner in the religion category, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the center of the Story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God s great story of salvation and at the center of their Story too."

Iron and Cypress,
He hangs. Abba looks away.
The Great Rescue Plan.

This book is such an enjoyable take on how all the stories of the Bible tell the story of our great Rescuer. The stellar illustrations pair well with a writing style that combines a light-hearted attitude with deep, spiritual lessons. It‘s perfect for kids and adults alike!

My husband and I are agnostic but come from different religious backgrounds. The other day his evangelical Christian sister sent this to my daughter out of the blue. We're trying to teach Lily about religion in an open-minded way. I don't mind reading her stories about Jesus but it pisses me off that his sister didn't consult with us or ask us if it was okay first. I'm worried I'm going to lose my shit with his family one of these days.

Notafraidofwords I see what you mean. She should have definitely asked you first. 8y
HippieChickHomeschool There's a book called Christian Mythology that teaches bible stories from a secular perspective. You could send it to her kids if you wanted to be snarky. 😉 8y
SuperPunkNinja @HippieChickHomeschool Oh I like that! Snarky is my middle name. 8y

Johanna414 It bothers me so much when people try to push their religious views on me and my child. I probably wouldn't be able to hold back if I were you! I actually lost a good friend after she told me my son was going to hell because we didn't baptized him... 8y
Jas16 My sister runs into the same issues with her in laws. So frustrating. 8y
SuperPunkNinja @Johanna414 Wow! I just don't understand that mentality at all. Probably best to let that friendship go. 😮 8y
SuperPunkNinja @Jas16 Totally frustrating! I'm glad I'm not alone. 8y
TrishB Families.....I would be massively offended by that! 8y
Johanna414 @McShelfington right? I don't understand why so many people feel it is their business how anyone else is raising their children... 8y
WhatDeeReads That is not cool. Family is the most sharp of double edged swords in my life. I love them, but damn. The pettiness in me says send her a book back called, "Is God real?" without her permission. 8y
TheWordJar I agree wholeheartedly with every "ugh, family" comment! We're in the same non-religious boat here (with my mom being the religion-pusher). Not sure how old your daughter is, but we enjoyed learning about world religions with One World, Many Religions by Mary Pope Osborne. A good primer on many different world religions for kids. 8y
SuperPunkNinja @TheWordJar Cool. Thanks! 8y
OrangeMooseReads I'm non-religious as well and am raising my son to be open and understanding of all religions and if he picks one to follow ok. My family is all religious (baptist and Lutheran) so we have received several religious inspired books and children's videos. 8y
Hooked_on_books Definitely not cool to send this without asking. I think @Lucky_LaDee has the right idea--send them 8y
melbeautyandbooks Ooh that would irritate me. Good luck! 8y

I read the Passion and Resurrection from this Bible, and basically wept all the way through.
