Welcome to Litsy!

This third book in the Cedar Cove series is more of the same likable, intertwined characters. I was going to pick it up again after the holidays but the next book seems like it may be kinda appropriate for spooky season (for someone like me who only wants cozies) so I‘ll read it soon.

Just started reading and it‘s a page turner

@batsy and @LeahBergen mentioned this book the other day and it sounded lovely. It really was! I love a book where you get a child‘s point of view into adult lives and problems. Because of the episodic nature of the book - each chapter covers a complete event - you get both Arjie‘s view of events in the adults lives and his own childhood and realisation of his queerness. It also gives you a quietly impactful telling of civil war and violence ⬇️

Enjoying this one so much more than I anticipated.

Disappointing. It felt like the author had certain events he wanted to include, but forgot to think about how to convey the emotion behind these events (the dialogue particularly was not realistic to me) or how to link the events together in a convincing narrative. Too bad.

Currently reading. Coming of age set against the escalating political tensions in Sri Lanka.

I woke up at 550 this morning - guess I forgot to tell my body clock that it's a public holiday today. Oh well might as well get a jump on my reading today!

I really should have started this series from the beginning. However, this was fine as a stand alone. It does try to keep up with many characters lives which sometimes got confusing. All in all a good read.

My book was making me want to eat South Asian food. Unfortunately I've not come across a Sri Lankan eatery in my town so this Indian-Pakistani meal would have to do.

The husband is with the kids working on a Lego boat so it's time for me to lounge on the sofa and read this wonderful book. I would sit in our backyard if it wasn't such a mess. The painters power washed the exterior yesterday and are returning on Monday (yes even though it's a holiday!) to start work.

Just started this one and I'm loving it!

I needed something fluffy to read after the last book and my mom recommended anything of Debbie Macomber. I found this on my kindle so this is what I am reading.

#POCreads for #somethingforsept. Funny Boy is a great, and underhyped, novel about a young boy coming-of-age and coming out in 1980s Sri Lanka. Check it out.
