I enjoyed this graphic novel though I found certain things dated. Bruce Wayne is 55 years old and given up crime fighting. However, he returns to fighting crime. Harvey Dent, the Joker, and Superman make appearances and a young Robin is also present. There‘s also Gordon and Alfred. However, the pervasive atmosphere of doom and hopelessness is life red at the end. #readyoursign #yearofbirth1986
The Bats. He‘s “old”. He‘s hung up his cape. But the vigilante still burns inside Bruce Wayne. When he comes out of retirement, what will be the outcome? This isn‘t my favorite but I loved the new Robin!
So Washington Irving had a small roll in inspiring the name of Batman's city. Well, don't that beat all.

Finally got around to reading this #Batman classic. I can see how the movie was inspired by it, but am glad I read the comic.
🌟🌟 So gritty, so serious, so meh. And I'm so mad about Selina Kyle.

My first exposure to Batman was in this amazing and much-devoured collection. Happy Batman Day!
Still holds up in terms of pacing and the art is tremendous, but this was so influential that it really doesn't any longer have the same punch it probably had when it was released.
Panels that make me cry - Part 2: ... she doesn't make a sound.
Batman catches Carrie Kelley as she plunges to certain death. All the history of all the people who have died fighting his insane war of vengeance is right there in the desperately sad "Good soldier. Good soldier."
I own a few graphic novels and my very first was this beauty. Batman is not shown as the glossy television, movie, or recent comic version. This novel shows the ultimate representation of Bruce Wayne as The Dark Knight. The artwork is not as neat as most but the story was beautifully written.
This is the series that turned Jim into the comic geek he is today. https://bookishdevices.com/2016/05/29/tdkr/
One of the best Batman stories ever told. It changed the face of comics and is still retains its relevance 30 years later.
Wow! This Gallery Editon is swoon worthy. Signed, numbered, and absolutely worth the high price tag. But shh don't tell hubby, I'm totally using his splurge as an excuse to buy more yarn 😝
This book did Batman vs Superman in a way that actually made sense, for reasons that made sense.
The best way to prepare before watching Batman Vs Superman...
Posting this in honor of today--which I'm spending in line from 11 am to 10 pm for opening night of the movie "Batman vs Superman." "The Dark Knight Returns" is a classic graphic novel.
