This is a great book to read to elementary students! They get to enjoy the repetition of the story and try to remember why she swallowed each item. When the book is read with appropriate tone and volume, the students will get a good laugh out of it.

This book is an example of a folk tale that builds upon itself. Therefore this is an example of accumulation. In addition, it shows repetition explaining why the old lady swallowed each Halloween thing in order to catch the bat. The bat that she originally swallowed, which no one knows why she swallowed the bat.

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bat was written by Lucille Colandro and published in 2002. The book is repetitive in which an old lady continues to swallow things in order to catch the previous thing! It‘s also funny in which the kids would be entertained.

This book is a spin on the classic novel. I read this book to my classroom at the CDC since they are starting to get into Halloween. The kids really enjoyed it and I think it is a humorous and exciting book for kids to read.

published 2002. This is one of my favorite books. There is a lot of rhyme in this book which makes it very interesting to young children. There is also a lot of repetition in this book. This makes it easier for the younger children to read because they have a lot of repetition to make the book more fun.
