#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024

Read for #SeasonalCozies June, it gets a soft pick. I liked the MC, her shop & the lakeside Michigan setting, but there were a few too many characters to keep track of & some of the twists were more outlandish than I like. That being said, it was $1.99 & Book 2 in the Berry Basket mysteries is also $1.99 & takes place in July (with blackberries) so I‘m going to continue with this series for my Seasonal Cozies July.

TheSpineView Well done! 5mo
Graciouswarriorprincess I just downloaded the first book from Libby. I am looking forward to reading it. 5mo
julieclair I wonder if a lot of the characters will return for the second book? It might be easier to keep track of them all if they‘re familiar to you already. 5mo

I‘m way behind & haven‘t even posted by June TBR yet but I did start this on the plane home yesterday for #SeasonalCozies for June.

First in a series, it‘s set in Michigan & starts about “two weeks after Memorial Day” so a June setting with summer berries. It‘s not bad so far at about 40% in.

Librarybelle I have this one picked for my June #SeasonalCozies too! 6mo

Mehso-so

Eh, I'll be generous. I really hated a lot of people in this one. Will probably try the next one.

I received an eARC copy of this book. The first entry in a new cozy mystery series that follows Marlee Jacob & her store, The Berry Basket, Dying for Strawberries follows the cozy mystery formula pretty closely w/ the typical red herrings & kooky characters, & the cutesy setting.
The mystery was good, but the ending was a bit of a letdown with whodunit. Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries involving food.
