“The first drop of the rust-colored liquid that splashed on the wooden railway platform in the Union Station was not noticed.“

Just started this new historical fiction novel by Laurie Notaro, who's mostly known for her satiric essays (a la Dave Barry, but for women!). It's based on a true story of one the most notorious crimes in Phoenix history, The Trunk Murders. Laurie and I were in the same AP English class in high school. #smallworld

DogMomIrene Ohhh, I had a student choose this case as a topic for her research paper. The umbrella topic I set was Arizona History. When this 8th grader presented her paper, we were all riveted. Definitely adding this to the TBR. 1mo
dabbe @DogMomIrene It is so different than her other nonfiction essays. And she is riveting! I've also been fascinated by this crime, so I'm enjoying that aspect also. It reminds me a bit of Erik Larsen's THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY. Same sort of idea. 🤩 1mo
DogMomIrene @dabbe I haven‘t read her before, so this will be one I really look forward to…because from what I remember about the paper and presentation, this crime is wild! 1mo
dabbe @DogMomIrene Definitely! 🤩😂😍 1mo
