Not book related just wanted to share the view from my parking spot today. I don‘t usually get to park in the river lot but I broke the rules and did today. 😁 @Andrew65 @tracey38

And last, but definitely not least, #BookMail from the kind and wonderful @Yournewfriendsams ❤️ She and I have gotten extremely close over this last year and I am amazed at her strength and genuine character. She completely surprised me with a Kindle, case (with Dumbos on it!), stylus, a Dumbo bookmark and Christmas ornament, HP postcard colouring book all for my birthday & for Christmas a hardback of a book that sounds wonderful! Thank you, Sam❤️
Getting new bookshelves is so exciting!! Until this part. And this is only the first of four I want to pull everything off of. It‘s going to be a long week...😳 This is a hodgepodge of my other half‘s books, some old books and some of my #TBR #moody #SpookyOctober
I actually picked this book up for my daughter and I decided to read it because of the interesting premise. It ended up being totally different from anything I've read before, in a good way. The story flows just like the meandering of a river and Wull, the main character, grows up along the way. It's really a hard coming of age story. The world was similar to ours in many ways and yet there is just enough magic to make it different. #bookstagram
I feel a bit bad saying pan because it's not a bad book exactly - some bits are really beautifully written and I enjoyed the characters.
The issue is it feels like a really unfinished book. Loads of plot lines are introduced and only one is followed through (and even then to a disappointing climax.)
Y'all this book is wild. It has a Neverwhere vibe to it, the story is not at all the same but the lightly dark and grotesque aspects are there. Monsters of all kinds, homunculus, bandits... I'm throughly enjoying it! My perfect level of creepy.
This is a somewhat creepy book of magic, mythical creatures and weird characters. The only problem I had was that it took a while to pick up - only in the last third did the story really 'fly'. That's a shame as the first few pages had drawn me into the story world quite quickly but then the whole quest motif became a bit schematic for a while (think Wizard of Oz). It does show the writer's potential though and I look forward to his next book. :)
Let's get this #litsypartyofone started. The kid is in bed, the hubby went out with the boys and this here is my plan for the evening. I just hope this stupid headache won't destroy it. 🙄
#TBRtemptation -Totally bought it for the cover. But the story sounds good as well. 😊
Like tales of hunting a mythical beast? Magic? Epic journeys? This a sad, yet hopeful, story of a young man who doesn't want the life he sees before him but finds, by attempting to save the life of his father, the life he's meant for is more than he thought. The author chose to use an old English type of language so there's lots of odd spellings but that adds to the story.
Saw this with new middle grade books at the book store and the cover...had to get it! The story sounds amazing as well.

This started out slow for me, and I thought I was going to struggle. But once it got going, and more characters were introduced (maybe slightly too many?), I really enjoyed it. And the relationship between Wull and his dad was beautiful.
Utterly thrilling, magical, and made me cackle on the subway. Suffice it to say, this one feels like a longtime favorite even though it's brand new!
I have heard AMAZING things about Riverkeep, and that list of names and titles on the front of the proof is completely intriguing! Also, yay maps :)
