The Skinnytaste Cookbook
The Skinnytaste Cookbook: Light on Calories, Big on Flavor | Gina Homolka
13 posts | 8 read | 6 to read
Get the recipes everyone is talking about in the debut cookbook from the wildly popular blog Skinnytaste Gina Homolka is Americas most trusted home cook when it comes to easy, flavorful recipes that are miraculously low-calorie and made from all-natural, easy-to-find ingredients. Her blog, Skinnytaste is the number one go-to site for slimmed down recipes that youd swear are anything but. It only takes one look to see why people go crazy for Ginas food: cheesy, creamy Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken and Broccoli with only 420 calories per serving, breakfast dishes like Make-Ahead Western Omelet "Muffins" that truly fill you up until lunchtime, and sweets such as Double Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies that are low in sugar and butter-free but still totally indulgent. The Skinnytaste Cookbook features 150 amazing recipes: 125 all-new dishes and 25 must-have favorites. As a busy mother of two, Gina started Skinnytaste when she wanted to lose a few pounds herself. She turned to Weight Watchers for help and liked the program but struggled to find enough tempting recipes to help her stay on track. Instead, she started skinny-fying her favorite meals so that she could eat happily while losing weight. With 100 stunning photographs and detailed nutritional information for every recipe, The Skinnytaste Cookbook is an incredible resource of fulfilling, joy-inducing meals that every home cook will love.

I recently discovered Gina‘s books and website—I was enjoying so much that I bought 3 of the books! I love the fact that they are healthy and contain nutritional info. This panna cotta was supposed to use raspberry but we wanted to try passion fruit. Delicious!

#Mtcookbook 🧗‍♀️ Another new one this week!

Gumbo on the menu tonight. I love this series for its simplicity and overall tastiness.

Tamra This was a hit and will make it again. Added Old Bay Seasoning and hot sauce to serve. 😚 11mo
mabell Ooo old bay sounds like great addition! 11mo
tpixie I‘ve been craving gumbo! 11mo

janeycanuck Yum! Sounds so tasty! 11mo
Tamra @janeycanuck it was very good! 11mo
Tamra @tpixie give it a try! 11mo
Tamra @mabell yes, I made a note to add it again. 11mo
tpixie @Tamra I showed the recipe to my husband.. He thinks we should give it a try! Do you know how much Old Bay you put in? 😄 (edited) 11mo
Tamra @tpixie my daughter doesn‘t like very spicy food, so I only put in a teaspoon. But the rest of us added hot sauce to our bowls. So I would say it depends on how spicy you want it. 😊 I also made other closely related substitutions based on what we had, including a half can of fire roasted tomatoes. 11mo
tpixie @Tamra ok thanks! Fired roasted tomatoes- my mom loved those! Thanks for the memory!! 11mo
Tamra @tpixie enjoy! 11mo
tpixie @Tamra 😋 11mo
intothehallofbooks This sounds wonderful! I‘ve never made gumbo before. Also I‘ve seen the Skinnytaste cookbooks around, but I‘ve never peeked into them. I should, though! 10mo
Tamra @intothehallofbooks I really like them! Maybe check a couple out from the library to see if they work for you. 😄 10mo
TheBookHippie I love gumbo! 10mo

Day 22 #adventrecommends

Today I'm doing something a little different. I've been pursuing a healthier lifestyle in 2018 & whenever I'm in a food rut, this book always comes to the rescue. Since this is the time of year when people start making health resolutions, I thought this might be a good pick. I haven't read Homolka's other recipe books, but I'm sure they're just as delicious!

@emilyrose_x

BooksAndTea97 Oooh cool idea! Everyone needs a good cookbook. 😃 6y

Huevos Rancheros. I got the recipe from the Skinny Taste blog so I don‘t know if they are in the cookbook but I‘ve liked every recipe of hers I‘ve tried. I subbed avocado for the topping due to the great Romaine lettuce contamination & wilted cilantro.

BookBabe Looks delish! 6y

So I tried my hand at making the shrimp n grits recipe from The Skinnytaste Cookbook, although it doesn't look as good as it does in the book, it actually turned out good (despite my chaotic/disorganized cooking techniques)!

Kshakal That looks super yummy!! 7y

My oldest is heading back to the dorm for his sophomore year at UCONN tomorrow. For his last meal at home for a while, he requested chicken enchiladas. I use the recipe from this cookbook and they are awesome. We are ready to chow down!

vivastory I LOVE enchiladas. This looks amazing! 7y

Redwritinghood @ValerieAndBooks Are you in CT? What year is she in? I hope she likes it there. My son really likes UCONN. 7y
ValerieAndBooks She is a sophomore in their dance program. We live near Philadelphia -- so it takes a while to get there and back! I'm glad your son is happy at his school 😊. 7y

It never looks like the picture. Mostly because I od'ed on the cheese this time, I think!

LauraBeth Never too many books - never too much cheese! 7y
Maggie4483 That is such a great cookbook (I've made those enchiladas, too. And added extra cheese!) 7y

Got both of the skinnytaste cookbooks recently and I'm really enjoying cooking out of them. Haven't been overly inspired to cook this year and Gina is getting me back in the groove. #bookwithpictures #seasonsreadings

Today at book club everyone brought a cookbook and made a dish from their book for our Christmas potluck. Very fun idea! Someone made the most yummy wassail. I made the apple crisp from The Skinnytaste Cookbook.
