Grinding It Out
Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald's | Ray Kroc
5 posts | 5 read | 8 to read
"He either enchants or antagonizes everyone he meets. But even his enemies agree there are three things Ray Kroc does damned well: sell hamburgers, make money, and tell stories." --from Grinding It Out Few entrepreneurs can claim to have radically changed the way we live, and Ray Kroc is one of them. His revolutions in food-service automation, franchising, shared national training, and advertising have earned him a place beside the men and women who have founded not only businesses, but entire empires. But even more interesting than Ray Kroc the business man is Ray Kroc the man. Not your typical self-made tycoon, Kroc was fifty-two years old when he opened his first franchise. In Grinding It Out, you'll meet the man behind McDonald's, one of the largest fast-food corporations in the world with over 32,000 stores around the globe. Irrepressible enthusiast, intuitive people person, and born storyteller, Kroc will fascinate and inspire you on every page.

This was a bit of nostalgia for me, a kid of the 1950s and 60s. McDs was a walk up window in my time, with 15 cent burgers and shakes, and 10 cent fries 🍟. Interesting history and good narration.

Theatre Artist, Jared F.: "I really enjoyed 'Grinding It Out' by Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald‘s. Whether you are interested in business, or want to hear how McDonald‘s grew from a small but successful hamburger stand in California into a dominant force across the world, I recommend the book." Jared is Founder & Artistic Director of Conduit Theatre, making theatrical events that connect people together. #BestBookRead

Lizpixie My daughter is actually becoming a McDonald's store manager at the moment, she first started working there at 14 after school, now she's being trained in business and eventually running her own store. She loves it!🍔🍟 8y

I hate when I go to a coffee shop to read, and I accidentally walk in just as "Open Mic Night" is starting.

If I were wondering how David Bowie's "Rebel, Rebel" would sound if sung by the Hamburglar, now I know.
