Meh. This one made me wonder why I read 3 of these.

“This is the problem with knowledge: it‘s inexhaustible craving. The madness inherent in knowing there is only more to know. It‘s a problem of morality, of seeing the invariable end from the immovable beginning, of determining that the more you try to fix it, the more beginnings there are to discover, the more ways to reach the same unavoidable end.”

I don't like to "DNF" any book, but I came close to it a few times reading this one. It felt like I read the same book 3 times during this trilogy.
The plot had potential in the first book, but it did not go anywhere. The same conversations are had in each book. There is constant planning, but nothing really happens. There's very long descriptions of physics from each character's POV, so you're basically reading the same thing over and over again.

RamsFan1963 I felt the same. Book 3 gave off such a vibe of just being a retread of book 1 7mo

My #TBRtarot pick this month was the third and last book in this Atlas series. The author said she wrote these as a commentary about the wealthy people in America and how they choose not to help solve some of the worlds greatest problems. However, the ending of the series wasn‘t great. Kind of let down about what happened to our 6 main characters. And I‘m left wondering about what happens to the archive! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

CBee I‘ve heard a lot of good things about this series, but what a bummer about the ending 😳 9mo

An unfortunately disappointing finale to the trilogy. I absolutely love Olivie Blake‘s writing style and characterization (which is still highlighted in this book), but the plot was basically incomprehensible to me. I honestly couldn‘t describe what happened outside of a few set piece scenes and character deaths. I‘ll credit my lack of comprehension partially to distracted audiobook listening, but I didn‘t have that problem w/the first 2 books.

Meshell1313 This seems to be the consensus. I‘m reading it now! 10mo
Kimberlone @Meshell1313 yep, I will eventually give it another try, I have the hardcover so I might understand the plot better if I read the physical book. I want to do a full reread of the series, so I hope I‘ll appreciate the final book more in that context. 10mo
emz711 Oh no! I just finished the first and requested the second one quick from the library 10mo
Kimberlone @emz711 I really liked the first two! 10mo
RamsFan1963 @Kimberlone I was pretty disappointed by the final volume also. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found the story incomprehensible. 10mo

11/150 What an utter disappoint to conclude the Atlas trilogy. While the first two books weren't perfect, there were several story moments that annoyed me, they at least had coherent storylines. After the explosive finale of book 2, I wasn't expecting this one to start so slow, or take so long to get back to the main characters. If you've read the other two books, you'll want to see how it ends, but I don't think you'll find it satisfying.

Traci1 That's disappointing to hear. 11mo

Meshell1313 Oooh nooooo. 11mo
RamsFan1963 @Meshell1313 Hopefully you'll have a better experience with it. For me, it took the parts of the series I didn't like and expanded on them, also the characters (to me) felt like they regressed back to the way they were at the beginning of the first book. 11mo

I have no memory of entering my pre-order of The Atlas Complex in for a pin, but I must have, because I received this enamel pin from Macmillian this morning. Pat my past self on the back. It's very pretty.

I meant to post this last week when they arrived in the mail, but….it finally happened…I preordered the same book twice 🤦🏽‍♀️

My husband opened the packages and was totally “WTF, Kimberly?!”

Thankfully I have a sister that already owns the first two in this series in hardback, so the extra copy will end up going to her.

vivastory 😂 😂 If it's any consolation over the weekend I realized I had 2 copies of the same book checked out from the library 11mo
Kimberlone @vivastory haha! That is even funnier 🤣 11mo
Saknicole So pretty 😍 now I just have to read the two I have on the shelf 😂 (well I have two others of her‘s I haven‘t read either from our Target outing a while back) 11mo
Kimberlone @Saknicole you could also start with one for my enemy since it‘s a standalone and I think you would really love it (magic, folk tale, Romeo & Juliet vibes)! 11mo

jackilynn I am jealous of your book. I meant to start that Friday since I had a snow day (and another one Saturday). My goal was to read the majority of it this weekend. But, due to the weather my copy has yet to be delivered 😩 11mo
RamsFan1963 I'm going to dive into this on audio as soon as I finish Patrick Stewart's memoir 11mo

I just preordered the last book in the Atlas trilogy, coming out January 9th. I have mixed feelings about these books. There are many aspects that I enjoy and keep me eagerly reading, then other parts that make me want to DNF and be done with it. I'm hoping the author can stick the landing, and give me a conclusion that doesn't have me going WTF, like the end of the 2nd book.

Roary47 I‘ve only read the first one, but I have the second reading to go. I hope the conclusion is worth the wait. 💛 12mo
