A twisty, sexy debut exploring the dark side of true crime fandom and the blurry lines of female friendship, perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, My Favorite Murder, and Fleabag Conspiracy theories from Reddit seduce a disaster-prone woman into an obsession with solving her older sister's cold-case disappearance Ten years ago, Theodora "Teddy" Angstrom's older sister, Angie, went missing. Her case remains unsolved. Now Teddy's father, Mark, has killed himself. Unbeknownst to Mark's family, he had been active in a Reddit community fixated on Angie, and Teddy can't help but fall down the same rabbit hole. Teddy's investigation quickly gets her in hot water with her gun-nut boyfriend, her long-lost half brother, and her colleagues at the prestigious high school where she teaches English. Further complicating matters is Teddy's growing obsession with Mickey, a charming amateur sleuth who is eerily keen on helping her solve the case. Bewitched by Mickey, Teddy begins to lose her moral compass. As she struggles to reconcile new information with old memories, her erratic behavior reaches a fever pitch, but she won't stop until she finds Angie--or destroys herself in the process. A biting critique of the internet's voyeurism, Rabbit Hole is an outrageous and heart-wrenching character study of a mind twisted by grief--and a page-turning mystery that's as addictive as a late-night Reddit binge.

This book was not for me. I think it was marketed wrong. This is not a thriller or a mystery. There's nothing thrilling about it what so ever. I didn't like the MC at all. This book is just the MC making bad decisions after bad decisions the entire time. And a lot of sex. The ending never really got resolved and just a disappointment. The falling down a reddit rabbit hole is what intrigued me, and this just wasn't that. 1/5

This book snagged me because I wanted to figure out the mystery but ultimately was a very anticlimactic, depressing end. I think the ending was meant to be hopeful but honestly left me concerned. I didn‘t like this #aardvark pick.

2⭐ for both books...

(tagged book)This book was depressing. I never felt like anything was resolved and it‘s possible that was the point of it…but I was left wanting something different, overall.

(for EWCFMID)This book didn‘t work for me…I could not force myself to care for this MC or her story…it was a serious letdown because that damn title had me thinking this would be good.

Mehso-so

Eh. Didn‘t enjoy this #aardvark pick as much as my other one this month. I felt the book dragged a bit in the middle. Tighter editing would‘ve helped tremendously.

Teddy‘s sister disappeared 10 years ago and now her father committed suicide on the anniversary. She found out he had gone down a Reddit rabbit hole, and she follows him and loses herself in the process. She meets a troubled teen who seems to want to help, but are her motives good? 🤨

BarbaraBB Unstacking! 11mo

I am enjoying this #aardvark pick, but I‘ve gotta call BS a little on a woman carrying an Irish wolfhound up a flight of stairs, even if he‘s old and has cancer. 🤨

Soubhiville Yeah I have to agree with you there! 11mo

Pickpick

“From the first line, Brody‘s novel had its hands around my throat. While Rabbit Hole has the pace and intrigue of a thriller, and brutal and evocative prose, what makes it stand out is its narrator, Brody‘s refusal to soften her edges or portray her as anything less than a young woman savaged by grief.”

– Jean Kyoung Frazier, author of Pizza Girl

BarbaraBB What a blurb! Super intriguing! 11mo

Pickpick

Whoooff… this was a gripping, draining & emotional read from start to finish. On the 10 year anniversary of her older sister going missing, Teddy‘s father drives off a bridge. In the aftermath, she winds up being drawn into the notes left behind in his own investigation into Angie‘s disappearance. With plenty of shady characters, terrible decisions & a dying wolfhound, some nostalgic Internet and current, yet I couldn‘t put it down! (TW-dog death)

Gissy And look who is there in the photo?🐶🤎🤎 🤎 11mo

TorieStorieS @Gissy This is Owen, our faux-wolfhound! 🤣 He‘s actually an Aussiedoodle/pit mix! Here resting on the blanket he claimed as his own in a rare moment of letting me actually finish a book! 11mo
TorieStorieS @AmyG He is at his most photogenic when sleeping— otherwise puppy energy has him blurry! 🤣 11mo
TorieStorieS @Megabooks I didn‘t want to put it down— totally enthralling and I can see why @AardvarkBookClub picked it for this month! Would be a good discussion starter! 11mo
