I started loosing interest at 50% because I found out this is an omegaverse story with little plot to it. This reminds me why I‘m not into werewolf romances. 3 times in the bedroom by 50%?? The plot hit stagnant till 85%, to which I was pleased again with the characters growth and discovery on how much they want to be together. I did like the characters, and felt they were both fleshed out in their worries about making this fake relationship real.
I thought this was such a fun and quick read- I read it in a day! Two shifter doctors that agree to fake date so that Noah can get promoted and Mackenzie can avoid her grandmother‘s match making. It has all my favorite tropes:
Grumpy- sunshine
Workplace romance
Fake dating
Noah gets super possessive of her especially when other men are around and their scenes are SPICY. I‘m new to the Omegaverse but can‘t wait to read more!
Ok I must officially be in my sappy era because I loved this book. #aardvark did it again by introducing me to a genre and author I never would have tried and I am all the happier for it. Definitely picking up the next book by this author.
@swishandflick I know this one wasn‘t your favorite but something about it did it for me! Could it be 🪢 🪢🪢 lol?!
This was... not great. So many plot points were weak, and I don't think she lands the paranormal aspect beyond some surface level descriptions that feel more like bad Twilight fan fic than anything else. The smut was pretty 🔥 though.
This author is just not for me. I‘m also really over all the Reylo fan fiction turned into novels. I‘m also over lack of editing happening in romance. DNF
4/5
Mack and Noah have never gotten a long despite both being doctors at Denver General and werewolves. But when a situation happens where they would both benefit from being in a relationship, they decide the best thing to do is pretend to date each other. Of course, their feelings don't stay fake for long as they spend more time together.
This book surprised me in a few ways I'll put in a comment, but overall a fun, spicy read.
I don't really know how to talk about a book like this, but it was entertaining? And very smutty. Tbh, I found myself skimming the sex scenes after a while, but the rest of the story was a lot like watching a popcorn romcom, except most of the main characters are wolf people.
Next. (Was not expecting to be reading an omegaverse book but my girlfriend handed this to me when she was done with it, so here we are.)
“Lana Ferguson‘s The Fake Mate is the perfect introduction to the wild world of the omegaverse…Whether you‘re new to the omegaverse or a longtime fan, the scorching The Fake Mate will thrill those in search of a book that turns the heat all the way up.”

I finished my reading goal for 2023 with this book!
Honestly this book was just OK. The paranormal aspect was underwhelming. And the romance didn't really make up for that.
Look at me reading two werewolf romances in one month. Just starting The Fake Mate.
“This shifter romance is sure to have you howling from the very first page!”

I believe this would fall into the #romantsy category, although it‘s heavy on the romance, & the only fantasy is that they are werewolves. Although Noah and Mackenzie do shift once in the book, the majority of the time it was just lots and lots of talking and thinking about being a wolf. The rest of the book is sex. Or that‘s how it feels.
There are funny parts and if werewolves are your thing, then definitely check this out!
