A new town, new friends, new challenges.... And a new heart-stopping adventure from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Ilona Andrews. Kate, Curran, and Conlan may have left Atlanta for Wilmington, but the usual magic mayhem has also hitched a ride! Kate and Curran have just settled into their new home and their 'low profile,' when a local businessman approaches them with an offer they cant refuse. A mysterious evil has spawned in the nearby forest and is holding a defenseless town hostage. The due date is rapidly approaching. Its exactly the kind of fight the Lennarts cant resist, not for the prize the town offers, but for the people who will surely die if they ignore it. If they succeed, theyll be rescuing an entire community and can build a strong new base for their family and the Wilmington Pack. If they fail...well, fail is a four-letter word. Nothing comes without a price. Now Kate must decide if she has what it takes to pay it.

Finished Magic Claims, it was so good. Glad to see a more mature Kate & Curran re-evaluating what they want for their own legacies with Conlan‘s future in mind. The phase of life of laying low to raise their young child ends in a big way, literally, with mammoths.

Second book read in January 2024. I love this series. 2nd book of the Wellington Years, a continuing of the original Kate Daniels series. #SeriesLove24 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView #ReadAway2024 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES @Andrew65 #JoyousJanuary one of many goals accomplished for this one. This one was about going back to life they wanted and were meant to do. Lots of great fights. 2 bingo spots with this one. #ISpyBingoJan @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks

I think the world building for this new series is even more exciting than with the first series. While listening to Magic Claims, it seemed like my eyes just got bigger and bigger with each new development. If you are a fan of the first Kate Daniels series, you should run, RUN to add Magic Tides and Magic Claims to your library. So much fun! All the ⭐️✨🌟💫🌠☄️🤩

My #20in4 final. I didn‘t make 6 books but I‘m happy with that I finished 2 books and 3 novellas. I finished 45% of Chilling Effect before DNF‘ing it and started The End of Everything, which I hope to finish by the end of the month.

Thanks Andrew for hosting! This mini readathon definitely got me out of my recent reading slump.

Kate & Curran are one of my favorite book couples of all time, so of course I love this new spin off series. I love this new storyline of their new life and realizing that they cannot escape their power and leadership. Kate especially comes into her strengths in this book and I cannot wait to see what Ilona Andrews comes up with next. I do recommend reading the Kate Daniels series first, you will be missing a lot if you start with this series. 5⭐️

LiseWorks Best series ever! I can't wait to read this too 1y
Nessavamusic @LiseWorks it‘s like revisiting old friends! 1y

Another excellent tale in the series! I am excited by this one as it makes me hope that more Kate and Curren novels are forthcoming.
An ancient magic has held a town hostage and Kate and Curren accept a forest in payment to free the town. Much magic and politics happens and the world expands some more.
4.5/5 stars, I really really want another full series.

MemoirsForMe Castle knows how to strike a pose! 😁❤️ 1y

This was everything I expect from IA: action, mystery, adventure, strong characters, snark, and an overall great ride. Kate and Curran get wrapped up in a struggle against mysterious forces and start working toward their own future. The timeline is a little weird if you‘ve read Blood Heir and Iron Covenant, but it all works (and the authors have a timeline explanation on their blog). Not a great standalone, but perfect for fans.

iread2much Oooo, I love that you got a physical book! I will have to check the website to see if they will EVER finish the Hugh stories… 1y

#BookReport
Pretty good reading week. Finished my commute/gaming audiobook and managed to read one by eye as well.

#WeeklyForecast
This week my goal is to keep up with my current reads. I will definitely finish the audio but I'm kind of in a slump about eye reads so we'll see.

Next to Martha Wells this is probably my favorite author(s). I loved being back in this world with these characters and seeing how they are living their lives now that their overarching story arc has ended and they are in their happily ever after. I think I really enjoy the most the relationship between the main characters because their union is based on trust and a complete understanding of who their partner is.

HeyT There's also some fun easter eggs for readers of the authors' blog. 2y

#bookmail is the best mail! Kiddo said, “did you order a book or something? Wait - is it for me?” And I about grabbed it and said, “no! It‘s for ME!”

I think the rest of my TBR is going to wait.

HeyT Do you follow the authors‘ blog because this book is forever titled Magic Clams in my brain 2y
ravenlee @HeyT yes! When I picked it up today I actually called it Clams, like, “I‘m so excited to start Magic Clams…dammit…Magic Claims!” 2y
