Really enjoyed this geeky and queer romance between two middle-aged introverts just trying to be themselves, which read kind of like the inverse of the standard small town romance.
And I somehow -- okay, many graphic novels -- filled my #BookSpinBingo board during this short and exceptionally grueling month!
#BacklistReadathon : enjoyed Between Georgia by Joshilyn Jackson, DNF'd Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan
A fun romance where the meet-cute is a case of mistaken identity. I liked that the couple was in their late 40s, and that one of them is demisexual.
This was very fun, very nerdy, and very cute! I swear I had no idea this had queer content, but I guess I have some kind of spidey sense because one of the leads is bi and demisexual. I loved this grumpy/sunshine combo, especially since both of them are older. Although lol on the cover artist who apparently thinks that's what a 48 and a 50 year old look like. Great secondary characters too, especially the ones you were meant to hate!
If you‘ve read the synopsis, then you pretty much know what the book is about. The first half was pretty predictable, but the second half was deeper than expected. I thought this was going to be a downer but ended up really liking it. Surprised by the LGBTQ+ tie in and loved how it was done!! Book #73 in 2023
Started Penelope in Retrograde on my way to Anna Maria Island, Florida and didn‘t finish it until very early in the airport back and then read Role Playing in one sitting while on the way back in flight. Both very good reads, kept my attention. I do not usually read during my vacations, I want to enjoy my experience without my nose in a book, so I don‘t miss anything. The rest of the year, nose always in a book! #amazonfirstreads
Very cute rom com! It had a slow start but once our two protagonists started their friends to lovers romance it was very enjoyable. I loved that this was older characters-48 & 50 but was still playful and fun. 4.25⭐️
Loved this smart & quirky romcom ❤️ helped solidify some theories I have about videogame literature, too! BTW, EmilyBlaster from Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is real— find it (and my high score) here: https://gabriellezevin.com/emilyblastergame/
Honestly, this was one of the better Kindle First books I've read. I liked that the characters were older, introverted and nerdy. It was a little slow to start but ended up being a sweet romance.
This was a wonderful, slow-burn romance featuring middle aged MCs who are both on the introverted side of things. There‘s gaming, beautiful LGBTQ+ representation, and more of a "cracked door" level of spice (would be a good option for folks who love *some* detail but not all of the goods).
This was FANTASTIC. Gen X protagonists, nerdy AF, introverted heroine, nurturing bearded ginger hero with a dad bod, cosy, low conflict. 5/5, no notes.
Not yet officially out but available for Prime members in First Reads programme.

My choice for June Amazon First Reads! Includes a LGBTQ romance! 🙌
Which one did you chose?

Chose this as my Amazon first reads. I can‘t decide if I‘m in a romance mood or a fantasy mood 😂
4/5
Maggie is 48 and she's living on her own for the first time since her twenties. She's become a full on hermit, so she joins a local online gaming guild made up of community college students who Maggie assumes are in their 20s. Aiden,is the leader of the local gaming guild. He's also 50, not 20.
I really loved this book. The romance is builds from friendship to something more.
CW: queerphobia and one main character is outed.
