Interesting mistery, and I ended up liking most of the characters, which was really nice.

Another knit club recommendation 📚❤️🧶hoping to connect with those ladies over Zoom this week. In the meantime, I‘ll be snuggled up on the couch with my baby boy and his vast collection of picture books 📖
King Stephen ordered 94 men to be hung for treason, but 95 bodies were found, hence the title of the book. But the author found another way to use the title in Brother Cadfael‘s thoughts on solving the mystery:
“For every untimely death, every man cut down in his vigour and strength without time for repentance and reparation, is one corpse too many.”
Oh joy! I finished book 1 in the series (loved it) and I‘ve just learned that books 2 and 3 are free to read for Amazon Prime members! On to book 2!
My first fiction book (prose) in ages, can‘t wait to get stuck in 😄 #crimefiction
1. Our son Aiden at his field trip last week, my husband and I at his FLETC graduation in 2016, and our dog Roxie!
2. I‘ve only read the tagged and haven‘t even finished it. Haven‘t read a lot this week due to it being crazy stressful since the husband left for New Mexico for 2 months on Sunday ☹️.
3. Library run, cleaning, reading, playing with the kiddo/doggo.
4. Rainy in the 40s.
5. Something with chicken?

Isn't it a great cover? 😁
I finally read the first two Cadfael books, having read some others of the series years before. I guess I didn't start at the beginning back then because I had watched the TV adaptations, at least I remembered bits and pieces. The first one was a bit bland, I'm afraid, but the second, tagged one was as good as I remembered the books: more danger, more soldiers, more victims and more Hugh Beringar 😉
This is the 'real' start of Cadfael's journey. The reader meets Hugh and Aline and what an entrance they make. Peters also sets up a trend of young couples and Cadfael's hand in spreading happiness when he can.
I enjoyed it this time around for the characters. How they started and how as a reader I saw them grow until the series end. A good mystery and a cast of characters worth knowing. #reread
Hot chocolate, honey, favourite cup, an old favourite and one I've been reading on and off for months now. #septphotochallenge. September Photo Challenge #2 Number in title
