I liked the picture glossary as it provides students with more support on the words they may not have understood.

Pickpick

This books gives a lot of information about weather in a simple way that is easy for children to understand. The book provides a lot of visual support to aid the students understanding of the different weather and how weather works. I also think the glossary at the end including pictures is a nice touch.

This NF book by Kris Rattini is a book that will keep readers interested. The book about Tornados and everyday weather will inform students about things like what causes thunder and lightning and what makes a tornado twist! The real life pictures will make it seems like you‘re there with weather. This book would be a great PR for students. Reading this book with a friend would keep both students eager to talk about dangerous weather afterward.

taywise393 This is what a good book is suppose to do. A lesson plan that would be great is http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/wwatch/tornadoes/experiments.htm. The students would make their own tornado and add objects to it to see how fast it can spin and whip objects around. 6y
taywise393 The UDL‘s that match with this is 7.3 & 3.1. These are ways to make sure the students are engaged and are leaning as much as possible. The ELL accommodations are 6, 14 & 22. These are all things that help the students comprehension. #lae3414sp19 (edited) 6y
DrSpalding Scholastic is a valuable resource. This is another excellent book to include as a non-fiction addition to your classroom library. 6y

National Geographic's Weather, along with all their other readers are quality books and are must haves! This is also a great way for students to understand and learn key features of informational text as this book has a table of contents, glossary and so on. Check out their selection https://mshop.nationalgeographic.com/category/national-geographic-readers-series... #ucflae3414sp17

DrSpalding You do not get any better than National Geographic for nonfiction. I like that you mention the nonfiction text features that students must know in order to proficiently read and comprehend nonfiction. 8y
