Combing the depths of my TBR... I'm _sure_ I can find something to knock off the last two prompts together (Guitar & Gate/Fence).
This book was the perfect best friend to lovers story. I would recommend it to those who love YA romances that aren't shallow and have a good plot! The story is about Emmy, who's best friend, Oliver, gets kidnapped by his father. After 10 years, Oliver comes home, his dad still on the run. Coming back into his old life isn't easy but Emmy's there for him. They get to know eachother all over again and fall in love, trying to make up for lost time.
“It‘s all natural!” I protested even as I laughed. “Made from nature!” “Nature is #cruel,” Oliver replied. “Well, we‘ll just see who‘s stronger and fitter when we go surfing next time,” I said without thinking, then realized that I just invited Oliver to hang out again. #QuotsyJan20
Emmy and Oliver have been friends since birth. But when Oliver goes with his dad for a weekend visit and doesn‘t return everyone‘s lives turned upside down. fast forwards 10 years later and Oliver is found . Now everyone is so excited that he is back. As Emmy and Oliver become close again they have to learn to deal with everything that has happened over the past 10 years. This is such a good book and I didn‘t want it to end. Loved them together !
All Emmy wants to do is to be free. But ever since Oliver's disappearance, her parents constantly worry about her and can't seem to let loose. All these years, Oliver has thought his mother has left him and his father. But when he learns that his father kidnapped him and they've been on the run ever since, he goes back to his hometown confused as never before. Emmy and Oliver's friendship had fallen through, but can it all still work out?

Enjoyable YA read about two next door neighbors who were together from birth to 7 yo, until father kidnaps Oliver, and he disappears for 10 years. Shows the dedication and constancy of deep friendship. 3.5⭐️
This was cute and sweet just very predictable and not all that deep. You‘d think a story with a kidnapper in it would be a bit more tense or suspenseful or sad, but it‘s a pretty typical boy-meets-girl, and they get together so soon there‘s not really any tension there, either. I think I just wanted more. 5/10 ⭐️
On to something sweet and light and with a happy ending now, please
I just got home from a 4 hour GI test. I had to eat eggs with some radioactive material in them (yum!) and then they took pictures of my stomach every hour for 4 hours. Which meant... 4 hours of reading! I read this whole book! I was going to take a picture with the book and the yellow hospital bracelet, but the cats immediately claimed it. 😋
I liked but didn‘t love this story. It was a nice, easy YA book that played out as I expected.
It's been awhile. I had a very busy week and I'm already 4 books behind sched on my reading challenge.
This is my first Robin Benway book read last Oct. 2017. You should give it a shot if you're into childhood friends turned lovers stuff. I am stacking her other works on my TBR pile and hopefully get to squeeze them this year on my reading list.
4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kidnapped at seven & found at age 17, Oliver returns home to rekindle his friendship with old BFF - and possibly something more? Fun & sweet story by Robin Benway, whose Far From The Tree is one of my faves.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As soon as I started this one I got wrapped up in it. It is a romance and it's about friendship and family. The characters go through a lot. I was brought to tears and I laughed.
And I'm reading this one because I have to read a bunch of books at the same time. 😁 #currentlyreading
Loved this book!
When Emmy's best friend/crush, Oliver, is kidnapped by his divorced dad, her parents go into overprotective mode. She learns (secretly) how to surf, and it becomes her "therapy" as long as she keeps it from her parents. Then at age 17 Oliver mysteriously returns....
Awwww I loved this book. A perfect start to a holiday weekend of reading. The friendships in Emmy & Oliver almost makes me miss high school!
"Can you pass me the slutty one, please?” I handed her the bottle of bright-red nail polish. “I think it‘s actually called Crimson Cabaret,” I said. “Don‘t be a slut-shamer.”

"I just hugged him and didn't say anything. There wasn't anything to say. Sometimes there just aren't enough words to fill the cracks in your heart." ❤️
Ever had a book steal your heart? This one stole mine. I was so captivated by Emmy & Oliver. I read it in one sitting, couldn't put it down.

You can't NOT like this book. It's adorable and super cute and Emmy and Oliver are the cutest couple. Such a great story. 4.5/5 stars
"The world keeps spinning, even when you want it to stop." I am loving this book so far. Great character development and I love the relationship that is growing between Emmy and Oliver?
I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep, so I started Emmy & Oliver on my kindle. Suddenly I'm 24% of the way through. I guess I should get up now....
This was a misleading book but in a very good way. The heart on the cover might make you think it's purely a love story, but it is so much more! This is a YA about finding yourself and forging your own identity and I loved it to bits.
3.5 stars for me. This book was cute and funny. I caught myself laughing out loud a bunch. About halfway through it tapered off for me and my interest and laughter waned. Overall a pretty good book!
Crazy cat watching me read and hogging my footstool. Just starting a new book!
A sweet YA read about a childhood friendship that weathers a kidnapping/custody issue that creates a huge gap in their lives. Brought up very interesting family and custody dynamics, and the teens have West Wing-level dry wit. Would recommend for actual YA readers, not so much for adults.
I really loved the characters in this book. I loved all their sarcastic humor and how they were able to still laugh despite the situation they were all in.
I got this and like 6 other books from the library Sunday so I'm putting Jane Eyre on hold. So far I'm really enjoying this book.
Really enjoyed this book. Cute main characters and interesting plot lines.
Loved it!!! Such a great book about friendship & growing up.
Emmy & Oliver was not only a fun YA romance, but it also tackled some pretty heavy topics. I found myself crying a few times during my read because the emotions were so well done. It definitely added to the overall depth of the story and my enjoyment. I had a hard time putting it down.
