A bit about me for my #AuldLangSpine match @kspenmoll 📚 Also I love historical fiction, but you could probably tell that from my list! 😀

#10 in this series is a 5 star read.50 years ago,a group of friends traveled to Holy Island, off Northumberland‘s coast on a school trip. The trip was marred by a student‘s death in the causeways rising tidewaters. These friends have been meeting regularly every five years for reunions on the island.During this year‘s reunion, one of them is discovered hung in his bedroom.Long held secrets & betrayals have lethal consequences for the the group‘s ⬇️
Poe & I snuggled and continued this book while sipping my morning coffee. Bliss! 📘🐈 ☕️
Trying to relax with a beer, popcorn, & a book to get lost in.
Of these 3 books from my #TBR, I settled on Vera for my before bed read tonight. An Altar in the World I began yesterday. #NFNovember. Act of Mercy is for another day. #mysteryofAncientIreland #SisterFidelma

Good night my friends, ending this challenging, heartbreaking day. ❤️
Overall a pick, but sometimes it‘s hard to move past the frequent fat shaming/ emphasis on Vera Stanhope‘s appearance in these books. Some books it feels less obvious, for whatever reason I noticed it more with this one, Also not really sure what to make of the inclusion of a plot line centering on a false sexual assault allegation. Not sure what to make of that. But always a great atmosphere in these books, I felt compelled to keep reading.
The latest Vera sees her team head off to Holy Island to investigate a murder. Another good read from Ann Cleeves.
Day 9 #AdventRecommends May Book 1
May was the month of catching up with some of my favourite series. So the first choice is Book 10 in the brilliant Vera Stanhope Series. Great to see Ann is still keeping up the high quality in the series.

Another great Vera adventure. The setting of Holy Island was used to great effect, and the ending was very well done.
This was a strange read because the book itself was giving off a not so nice smell and made me irritated .
I‘m guessing it is the print. Never happened to me before. Anyway it was a good read though I‘d have liked to read it faster but I had to keep having breaks. Love Vera.
Bk6 of September is done! I‘m on a roll🙌 This was brilliant, so far every book this month has been fantastic. The 10th Vera novel definitely didn‘t disappoint, the plot was great, the characters all well written & the ending was both a surprise & a shock(I may have cried)I also love how the author brings alive her settings, Northumberland is not a well known part of the UK & I‘ve enjoyed learning more about it. #BookspinBingo #SeriesRead2022
Two more new #bookmail from Waterstones came today. It‘s new release time in the publishing world so my preorders are coming in a flood & trickle. The new Vera novel is one I‘ve been looking forward too and who doesn‘t love a signed hardcover. 50yrs ago a group of teenagers spent a weekend on Holy Island & now go back every 5yrs to remember the friend they lost crossing the causeway. Now another is dead & Vera thinks they‘re connected.
I attended an online author event with Ann Cleeves discussing her new book. My local Independent Book Store was one of the bookstores that offered the opportunity. Excellent interview, and I was able to pick up my signed copy at Main Point Books, even though Ann Cleeves was in England. Plus a Vera bookmark! The wonders of technology!
Such a great addition to the Vera series, I‘m definitely craving for the next book already 😘❤️ #NetGalley #StMartinsPress
Moving sucks big time, but I am already looking forward to the amazing books I‘ll read soon! ❣️❣️❣️ Also… trip to Spain in a month 🎉🎉🎉 But… I already see myself after a sauna in front of my fireplace sipping tea or wine, having some chocolate, and reading like there is no tomorrow!!!! What books are you looking forward to read this autumn?

For fifty years a group of friends have been meeting for reunions on Holy Island, celebrating the school trip where they met, and the friend that they lost to the rising tide five years later. Now, when one of them is found hanged, Vera is called in.
Starting the new book in the Vera Stanhope series, that is published in September. #NetGalley
