On their journey they come across a witch who despises humans and lives among otter-like creatures but she wants Belgarath to give them the power of speech. Seems counterintuitive and also very wrong to change them away from what nature intended.

I love that feeling of adventure when the rest of the world is hushed and the air is cool with the promise of a beautiful day ahead. For me, that happens on early mornings; I‘m not a morning person so it happens rarely, which makes it more special.

Sometimes that little voice in your head can get just a bit too annoying.

One criticism I‘ve seen about this series is that Garion doesn‘t get told everything. Well, apparently there‘s a reason …

This was one of my bookspins last year that I didn't get to, so I was happy it was pulled again this month.

I found the pacing a little odd, but despite that this is probably my favourite of the Belgariad so far. Only one more book to go! Hopefully I'll get to it next month.

Sooo... I said I was gonna skip #BookSpin this month, since I'm behind on my challenges and it's starting to cross to the wrong side of the fun! vs making-reading-feel-like-a-chore line.

But I checked this month's numbers on my list anyway, and I'm in! They're both books on my must read pile that I'm looking forward to reading.

Jumping into book 4 of the Belgariad series. While I don‘t think this is an amazing series or anything, I have become ridiculously invested in Aunt Pol and Durnik, (I hope they marry, don‘t spoil it for me) and I also like Garion and his sassy attitude.

Making good progress on #24b4Monday. Made my 3 book goal 🙌🏻 so upping the book goal to 5.

In the meantime, Co-worker no. 2 is hard at work for a Saturday. He‘s busy inspecting the spring bloom progress and continuing to inventory the birds. I got a side-eye glare when I tried talking to him. Message received—do NOT disturb him whilst he‘s busy working. 😂

I enjoyed this book the most in the whole series. The story picked up the pace and was fun to read. It is a good old fantasy and I would recommend it to any fans of Lord of the Rings / Hobbit books.

It's always best in the long run to be what you are. It isn't proper to behave as if you were more, but it isn't good to behave as if you were less, either.

Hoping to finish book 4 of 5 in The Belgariad tonight #fantasy

I don‘t think Blue appreciates being a book stand. I‘m reading book four of the Belgariad #fantasy a heartwarming old style classic fantasy series.

I wish the man who reads these books read every book. He is amazing.

Book 4 in the series and I'm still enjoying it. Garion finally learns why he's been on the quest and who he truly is which I had figured out. Onto the last book now and I hope it ends the series well.

My phone died last night whilst recording my #24b4Monday readathon luckily I'd looked at it before. I managed 4 hours but no picture so thought I'd post one of my house with it's Christmas lights on instead. Hope everyone else is doing well.

The return of the maps! My copies of the last two books in this series didn‘t have the maps and I missed them. Ce‘Nedra was inspiring, particularly since I have a speech tomorrow.

My favourite character in my favourite fantasy series is Prince Kheldar aka Silk. He lies, he tricks, he can disguise himself, speaks all the languages, can steal anything and is the ultimate spy with a sharp sense of humour. Artists impression courtesy of Zach-illustration.com. Hard to read a book while also playing fetch, but here we are.
I last read this series maybe 20 years ago. I'm enjoying it this time, though it's easier for me to see some of the cracks in the foundation...
