I read this book in a few hours, but in the dead of winterw, I couldn‘t have asked for a better story to transport me to a lush tropical island. Some of the twists I saw coming, but overall, it was an atmospheric and eerie read. I loved it!

Okay, so book hangovers are the real deal and sadly, this book may have suffered to impress me because of that. I tried not to let the high I got from *Fourth Wing* make me rate this book lower than it deserved and I was really feeling more like 3.5 stars but rounded up because overall this brought some fairly creepy moments…all while still keeping definitely in the YA zone. It also had fantastic narration performed by Phoebe Strole.

My pick for this month's #Island Vibes⬇
BOOK: The Depths by Nicole Lesperance (which I will hopefully listen to while I'm on Vacation... too bad I'm not going to an actual island, though.
SONG: Cruel Summer by Bananarama

I really like this! A girl goes on a vacay with her mom and stepdad to an island, where she encounters ghosts, birds calling her name, and a mysterious boy. I liked the gothic horror feel to it. If you liked Mexican Gothic, I think you‘ll like this!
Nice creepy story about an island that is really alive. Addie who is staying on the island, during her mother and new stepfather's honeymoon, meets a guy who is not at all whom he seems 🏝

Book delivery day is like Christmas for me. Love getting new books in to process … especially when there are books I‘ve been wanting to read 🙃
Wanted to show off the hardcover art + the art on the inside jacket! This book had mystery, adventure, a little romance, and some horror (not too much to ward me off, and I‘m a weenie!). Addie is reluctant to come to Eulalie Island, and soon finds the island is beautiful, dangerous, and alive. She faces the mystery of the island‘s previous residents, as well as the dilemma of what the island wants from her. Fans of Mexican Gothic would like this!
I‘m getting Mexican Gothic vibes from this book with an island being alive. Look at this design on the inside cover!!!
I fully blame the new Disney video game for slacking in my reading 😅 This is the exclusive edition I got with OwlCrate, and I‘ll have to post more updates as I read because the inside cover art is beautiful!
