A book of short stories about Mrs. Marple that I found just okay. There are twelve short stories ranging from a couple chapters to ten chapters each. I think Mrs. Marple belongs in England, unless she is on a cruise. One story was set in America and I didn't care for it. Twelve different authors. My favorite was from Ruth Ware.

What a crap shoot! As is the case with most short story collections, there were a few good stories, but mostly not. #pop23 #charatersnameinthetitle
Some mysteries are definitely better than others. My favourites are Miss Marple‘s Christmas by Ruth Ware and The Mystery of the Acid Soil by Kate Mosse. I prefer the mysteries set in an English village location as these seem to have more of a feel and the essence of the Miss Marple I know and love, rather than the ones set in America etc. All in all, quite an enjoyable read but with some hits and some misses along the way. #Pigeonhole
“So dear Aunt Jane. . .” Raymond West‘s voice came over the telephone wire with more than his usual dose of cajoling charm. “What do you think? A real old fashioned St. Mary Mead Christmas?”
“Miss Marple‘s Christmas”— Ruth Ware
First line: “I wonder, sometimes, if there isn‘t a concentration of evil in small places.”
“Evil in Small Places”—Lucy Foley
Ever since deciding to try and read only off my own shelves I've read a lot of Poirot and Marple and I was surprised to find that I enjoy Miss Marple more. I'm not normally one for short story collections but I enjoyed all of these. I liked the little hidden nods to the originals and they were all well executed without straying far from Christie's methods. The standouts were McManus and Bardugo for me.

I normally don‘t like pastiches but this collection of stories is great, especially the stories by Alicia Cole and Leigh Bardugo. The narrators are also excellent
Not all stories were equal in calibre- some strong, some kess so. Overall, kess enjoyable than i expected.
Had this ebook on hold forever- finished reading the last few stories this afternoon. I‘m easy to please when it comes to Miss Marple short stories. I think some of the authors know their Agatha Christie better than others. I think my favourite story took place in I think Cape Cod. It had a lot of very familiar elements and a twist that I saw coming but enjoyed. Glad to read a new “Christie” at Christmas 🎄 💚🐉
Twelve short stories featuring Agatha Christie‘s Miss Marple (and, yes, there was a Christmas story 😆). I loved how many of the authors tied these stories into some of Agatha Christie‘s actual books, by alluding to their cases. I have several favorites, but I felt the creepiest ending was the last story written by Leigh Bardugo.
Up next!!! SO many favorite authors! 🥰 #marple #twelvenewmysteries #agathachristie #naomialderman #leighbardugo #alyssacole #lucyfoley #ellygriffiths #nataliehaynes #jeankwok #valmcdermid #karenmmcmanus #dredasaymitchell #katemosse #ruthware
I won this in a goodreads giveaway a few months ago but it hadn‘t arrived. I was planning on buying a copy anyway, so was going to give it another week before buying it. Finally arrived today from the publisher and it‘s even prettier than I expected! Yay! #freebooks
I love it when my library hold finally comes in 🧶
@Nutmegnc Thanks for the lovely books and fall gifts! I‘m excited to start the books! ❤️❤️❤️🍁😍📚 #litsylovefallswap @Bookgoil @Deblovestoread
This was a nice collection of short stories. Miss Marple is one of my favourite characters and it was fun to see her in a bunch of new situatuons.
My favourite stories were the ones by Ruth Ware and Karen McManus.

Some of them write Ms. Marple better than others 🖤regardless, I‘m delighted I was able to get the collection & this cute mothman sticker at my local 📚
I wanted some light short stories in between some of the heavier reading I'm doing, & this seemed to fit the bill. The thing about Christie is that though I enjoy reading her, I also criticise her writing a fair bit—but after reading this, I appreciate how easily she pulls it all off! These writers do their best to imagine Miss Marple in a variety of locales, & thus quite a few stories involve her nephew Raymond as her ticket out of St. Mary Mead.
As with most collections, some stories work better than others, & my particular favourites were 'Miss Marple's Christmas' by Ruth Ware, & 'The Mystery of the Acid Soil' by Kate Mosse. I felt that these authors captured the spirit of Christie's indomitable senior citizen detective the most accurately. 4🌟

The U.K. cover (on the left) is so bland compared to the US edition!
As with any collection of stories by a variety of authors, the style & quality here vary. While I found this a bit uneven, it was enjoyable to have a collection of new Miss Marple stories and it was a fast, fun read.
And I will just repeat what several reviews on goodreads said - in response to the publisher‘s blurb that this can introduce new readers to Christie & Marple, I think the best thing is to read the originals!

I have no clue why this arrived in the mail - maybe I answered a ‘request an arc‘ ad and don‘t remember? But it is a cool surprise and looks fun so I jumped in.
Will let you know how it goes!

These stories equal the original Marple stories in cleverness and boldness while still staying true to the little old lady with the steel-trap mind created by Christie so long ago. It is clear the authors have a fondness for Aunt Jane and a familiarity with her stories. Fans will find comforting nods to the original cast of characters. This is just a lovely, lovely reading experience, like getting a long hug from an old friend.
Well, this is super exciting!! Ruth Ware! Lucy Foley! Leigh Bardugo! And lots of other talent giving us 12 new Marple stories this year! Yeeee!! 😆😆
