The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Original Radio Scripts
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Original Radio Scripts | Douglas Adams
4 posts | 13 read | 2 to read
March 1978 saw the first ever transmission of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on BBC Radio 4; the beginning of a cult phenomenon. This 25th Anniversary edition of the scriptbook includes a previously unpublished Hitchhiker script, 'Sheila's Ear'; a new introduction by producer Geoffrey Perkins; and a Who's Who of all those involved in the radio series. As well as all the new material, of course there are the twelve original radio scripts - Hitchhiker as it was written and exactly as it was broadcast for the very first time. They include amendments and additions made during recordings and original notes on the writing and producing of the series by Adams and Perkins. For those who have always loved Adams, as well as for his new generation of fans, these scripts are essential reading - with the previously 'lost' script making this edition a must-have piece of Adams memorabilia.

Listened to this so many times over the years since I was an itty bitty girl. It's my all time favorite book and I absolutely ADORE the original BBC Radio program version. So so good!

The Audible version is awesome because it's got an interview with the author and voice actors at the end, discussing the writing/casting/recording of the book/program. I'd never heard this bit before, and it was really interesting.

Grew up listening to this BBC radio program that my parents received on audio cassette as a wedding present in 1980. It's my all time favorite book of all time because of it and I can't even begin to guess at how many times I've read the book and listened to the radio version. Listening to it again right now, and god is it satisfying! 😏 💝

MicheleinPhilly I ❤️ that! 4y
