Pritchett‘s series of short, sharp anecdotes are like particularly hilarious and insightful contributions to a conversation over cocktails. The deadpan delivery of critical reviews she has received in her career were particular highlights. I so wanted to love this one and, by the blurb I really should have done. I‘m giving it a soft pick though, as I couldn‘t be so mean as so give it a so-so….

It should have been so relatable, covering anxiety from being a child through to adulthood, but I think it was the style that meant I felt really distanced from it - very short disjointed chapters, with some being only a few lines long and the longest only being 2 or 3 pages.

This is a really funny, and at times moving, account of Georgia Pritchett's struggles with anxiety, kind of like a more quiet, reserved, English version of Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson. She describes her childhood, her career as a comedy writer (which sounds like a brilliant job but she highlights the challenges of being the only woman in the room), and becoming a mother. It's all very witty and charming.
