Cute YA romance involving a Korean-American cellist and a K-Pop idol. Pretty surface level, no real surprises, but still fun and adorable. Didn‘t really like the audio narrator- seemed a little wooden in delivery, and I hope that wasn‘t a choice. Still, there‘s a companion book now that I might check out.
American-Korean girl meets cute Korean boy in LA, has loads of fun, and falls head over heels. But he goes back to #SouthKorea & doesn‘t respond to her texts. When she travels to Korea with her Mom to help with her ill grandmother, she meets him again-& surprise! He‘s a k-pop superstar! This is a super cute fun read, with many good food references. Highly recommended! #foodandlit @Catsandbooks
There‘s a lot of Korean food in this book for #SouthKorea #foodandlit
I‘m glad I‘m reading this book. It‘s light reading compared to the other two books I‘m reading for South Korea this month, which are both about its independence from Japan.
@Catsandbooks
I‘m going way outside my comfort zone for my next ebook for #SouthKorea but opted for it because it also satisfies the #letterX for #litsyatoz, which is always hard to find. #foodandlit @Catsandbooks
This was a cute YA romance with kpop themes. It was OK, but didn't bowl me over.
Maybe my crusty old heart is just getting harder to warm, or maybe it was all just a bit formulaic.

Love my new Kindle Oasis so much. Don't have a cover for it so carrying it around in this Strange the Dreamer book wallet thing. Its ridiculously big, but look how cute it is 🥰🥰🥰
This book was so cheesy it made me seek out a salad (just kidding, kind of).
Other than the obvious that the depictions of KPop stars in this is overblown & at times ridiculously inaccurate, the plot was very surface level. I‘ve read plenty of YA romances that had more at stake with more richly personified characters - this just wasn‘t it. 🤷🏻♀️✨🫰🏻
Apparently I‘m in my YA romance era. I haven‘t read a forbidden love romance in awhile and enjoyed it against the K-pop scene. I read my first book on Idol culture earlier this year, and this book - as it centers a Korean American girl - helped me understand things a bit differently. It‘s not a particularly lovely dovey or spicy tension kind of romance, but it‘s believable and interesting for the high school setting!

This is such a sweet book. I loved it, it had me smiling all the way through. It's so cute! It's a fast paced, easy read with virtually no cringy parts and it was a joy to read in all honesty. A great book about falling in love, friendship, family and music.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought it was beautifully written. I think most people would enjoy it, knowing it's a simple love story. A great book to jump into after a heavier read.

After being completely charmed by Oh‘s The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea, I wanted to check out her other books.
XOXO is a fun forbidden romance about a Korean American girl & a K-Pop star. I loved the culture references, especially about K-Pop culture, which I knew nothing about.
The end wasn‘t very satisfying for me, but overall I enjoyed the read, and I know I‘ll seek out more of Oh‘s work.
Jay‘s Karaoke sits at the center of a Koreatown strip mall between a Boba Land 2 and Sookie‘s Hair Emporium.

Trying to get back on the reading grind after being consumed by Naruto for the past few months...
Opened my #StaycationInTime box and I love it! I chose South Korea and @sblbooks nailed it 😁 The bookmarks are so gorgeous 😍 I will be using the tumbler and pouches for everyday life. The snack is so good, the squishies are super cute, and the candle smells so good! I'm so excited about the books and especially the South Korea 101 book. Thank you @sblbooks for putting this together. And thank you @Chrissyreadit and @DinoMom for hosting this swap
Finally finished my last book for the #AtoZRomance challenge! It definitely want the best YA Romance I‘ve read, but it gave me X, so I‘ll take it!
I love the way my shelves look when the sun shines in the morning. #bookshelves
So cute. What if you had a fun night with a cute boy and then he just got whisked away at the end? What if a few months later you transfer from LA to Seoul so you can be with your mom as she looks after your grandmother and it turns out said boy goes to your school. And is a K-pop star?
Ok this took me longer to finish than it should have and I blame it on this week and my nerves bc this was seriously a really cute read! I think the narrator slightly grew on me but I just really liked the characters (very independent and idk cute) and the story was good (end had me a bit 🤨 but that's ok). Maybe I should read other kpopesque stories lol #koreadathon #yafiction #romance #friendship
My first read for #koreadathon, NGL, the narrator is kind of annoying me. I don't really like her voice, she's making the character kind of annoying 😂😂 but so far it's a decent start to a ya fiction title
It was a fun read but some of it was a bit predictable. The romance was sweet and cute, but this book didn‘t feel special to me personally.
“Jays karaoke sits at the center of a Koreatown strip mall between a Boba Land 2 and Sookie‘s Hair Emporium”. Not a bad opening line #firstlinefridays
My current read. 50 pages in so far. Not sure if this will be a favorite or not
This was really cute and beautifully written. Korean culture and the characters are the stars of this book. Jenny is a great protagonist, and is the heart of this story.
The book also tackles some issues on the entertainment industry in South Korea, which provide points to ponder without being too heavy-handed in its delivery.
All in all, a solid read. 💖

This book made me so happy, it was pure joy to read. The food descriptions and sense of place in Korea were so well done. I loved the characters and I loved Jenny's self confidence.
Did I enjoy this YA book about a cello prodigy who meets a K-pop star and what happens next? Yes, yes I did. It‘s a fun, super cute romance that leaves you smiling. The characters are great as is the setting, much of the story takes place in Seoul South Korea, and fans of K-pop will find a lot to like. On sale 7/13/21.
