Good. Shows the aftermath of the Cinderella story. Enjoyable but sometimes I felt like the story was drifting so it made it hard to read. Could have done without the side story of the mice as that sidetracked me as well. Full of twists and turns.

In this #CinderellaRetelling, the focus lies on after the happily-ever-after. It‘s been 13 years since she‘s said, “I do.” And Cinderella no longer finds her prince very charming at all… in fact, she wants him dead. As the past trickles out, this fairy tale shifts into something a bit less magical. Engaging and unique, this reminded me a bit of Sheri S. Tepper‘s BEAUTY and a touch of Catherynne M. Valente‘s novellas! A sure discussion starter!
This is a really soft pick for me. Parts of it are really very good. But the rest is sort of boring. There is an entire sub plot with mice that's awesome. And she picks fairy tales from different (European) sources and integrates them into the story in an interesting way. But in the middle of the book I was like "how is this only the middle?" Which is never a great sign.

It‘s a bit topsy turvy and you definitely need to to focus while reading, but a fun take on fairytales.
Well, I said I wanted another dark, interesting book written by a woman. Cinderella-disillusioned-by-marriage might just to fit the bill, especially if this is anything to go by!
