The first 50 % wasn't really intriguing but I loved the rest of the book. Characters could have been a bit more fleshed out but I liked the story and one excellent twist.
The ending made me to hope that this would be a series.

Whoa, this got me! What a moment.. only 49 pages in and so intense already😱. Guess I‘m calling in sick tomorrow and reading under the covers 😆. Thanks @ShelleyBooksie for the lend, I‘m hooked!
@StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego - Thank you for my awesome #hauntedhallowswap package! I've been wanting to read this book! The light up ghost, socks, napkins and bookmark are adorable!! Hubby and kiddo were very excited for the candy ♡♡♡
I haven‘t been reading crime thrillers other than police procedurals in a while so I really liked this. The main character is a podcaster on a cold cases pod cast exploring a 20 year old unsolved case. I liked the structure and the inclusion of the podcast transcripts.
🌹 I mostly prefer to admire my beloved authors from afar. Though I do always enjoy author events when I have the chance to attend. Might be fun to see Amor Towles speak sometime.
🌹 🌹 If you are in the mood for another thriller, tagged is a good one. Set in the Twin Cities!

First book finished in July! Loved this one, hard to put down. A true crime podcast about a serial killer from the 1990s named the Countdown Killer because of his fixation on numbers with his victims. Now, 20 years later, Elle is doing a podcast on this case because some believe he died in a fire but others believe he is still out there. When a girl is kidnapped, could it be the Countdown Killer or a copycat? I couldn't put this one down.

I read so much romance this month. Too much romance? Absolutely not—but yes I think I needed to be swept away. (I especially loved BOOK LOVERS like every other person on the planet and A LADY FOR A DUKE, which would be a great Pride read if you‘re on the look out!)
Other favorites of the month were the compulsively readable GIRL, 11, TRUE BIZ, and VERA KELLY: LOST AND FOUND (out in June!)
Hope you had a great May! Onto June!
I was pleasantly surprised by this impulse read. It was a page turning suspense with a solid cast of characters. I have no problem recommending this one if you are a fan of suspense reads. #readingchallenge2022
Thank you @vivastory for recommending this one. I loved it!
I suggest listening to the audiobook because it's done really well with different voice actors for the podcast portions and the interviews.
Suspenseful read that had me unsure of what was going to happen next, and it's a great example of why I'm loving true crime fiction lately.
An intriguing set-up, with a true crime podcast framing the investigation into a serial killer cold case. Our protagonist, Elle, has a podcast which looks into cold cases, and the story opens with a new season and a new set of crimes, those of the Countdown Killer. But as Elle gets closer to finding new leads, a series of events happen that make her doubt they are coincidences. And ultimately Elle needs to confront the secrets of her own past.👇

This is one of the best thrillers I've read in awhile. The characters are great, the choices they make are both realistic and often infuriating, and the killer is creepy enough to make you want to keep reading. One of the twists wasn't as much of a surprise as it was probably supposed to be, but that's likely my fault for reading too many books like this.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. I love true crime podcasts so I was more than a little excited to receive this book to review. Told in a mix of true crime podcast intertwined with Elle's narrations, her hunt for The Countdown Killer had me hooked. It was dark, twisty, atmospheric, everything I want in a thriller. It was hard to put down between reading sessions.
Excellent thriller. Elle hosts a crime podcast and tries to solve the mystery of the Countdown Killer murders. Great structure alternating between podcast episodes & Elle‘s investigation. Keeps you guessing with plausible suspects & some good twists. A satisfying read.
Full Card...all books have been attempted at least. DNF for The Dead Season, which is my #doublespin. I also DNF'd Her Final Breath & The Hazel Wood. All others I finished including the tagged book which is my #bookspin book.
Overall Rating 4⭐ | Narration 😍 = Amazing
The podcast element is very well done in this book and also very well performed by the narrators. Andi Ardnt as the voice of the MC was very good...and she always is. Overall, it was quite entertaining with some thrilling suspenseful moments. Plus a twist of sorts that you may see coming especially if you‘re listening on Audio.

I thought this was a phenomenal debut that reads like a Criminal Minds episode and grips you the whole entire time. Such a fun read!! My May #bookspin ! #bookspinbingo
Am I going to have nightmares reading a fictional serial killer before bed? Yup. Am I gonna do it anyways? Absolutely.
This is an impressive and genuinely thrilling debut novel! With a podcast frame, Elle‘s latest season focuses on TCK, The Countdown Killer who terrorized Minneapolis in the late 1990s. But as Elle investigates, it soon becomes clear that she is tracking down the truth! Some of the plot follows predictable paths but with likable characters and an engaging format, this one is hard to put down!!
Love this list - moves that reflect the trend in citizen policing, true crime podcasts and Reddit detecting.

Loved this thriller! It does a great job of mixing a true crime podcast with real life action and investigation. Although I read the eArc for this, I'm super excited for when this comes out on audio! It wasn't perfect, but it was a wild ride and I devoured it. Book 7 of 2021
This week has been one of a lot of anxiety- my co-worker and office mate tested positive for Covid-19. I've had 2 negative rapid tests, but I'm going for a PCR test later today. But thankfully, there are books and the #AnyWayYouReadathon to distract me. My goal is just to read as much as possible, and yesterday I finished the 2 books pictured- both from my tbr! @Eggbeater @kimmypete1
GIRL, 11 is phenomenal and should be added to your TBR immediately! Between the propulsive plot and the format of podcast episodes between chapters, I could not put it down. The characters jump off the page - especially main character Elle, the host of a popular true crime podcast that tackles cold cases. Elle's bravery and compassion pull you along on her journey to solve the case. This is an outstanding debut! #2021Debuts #bookstagram
