Not very far into the book yet but can‘t wait to be completely immersed. Going to follow it up with the AppleTV 🎬 ‘Still‘. Has anyone seen it yet?

Been looking forward to this one since it come out & I still haven‘t gotten to it so,…I decided that, in honour of MJF‘s 60th 🥳🍾birthday, this is exactly what I WANT to read next! I may even borrow the audio after as I‘m overly curious & a big fan!
While Fox covers some events from earlier in his life, he focuses on life in his 50s living with PD here. Some of the early chapters seemed a little disjointed, but they‘re serving the broader picture of Fox struggling to maintain his optimism as his medical struggles become more complex as he ages. Definitely enjoyed his sense of humor. Listening to this book makes me want to pick up some of his earlier books.
Hearing this book read by Michael J Fox was humbling. It is impressive what perseverance he‘s maintained!
With gratitude, optimism becomes sustainable
“With gratitude, optimism becomes sustainable.“
His was the only poster hanging on my wall as a teenager. He was my first - and, truly, my only - celebrity crush. I remember the devastation of the early Parkinson's diagnosis announcement. What an amazing outlook on life. I always love to listen to memoirs read by the author - this one was a bit tough at times, because you could hear the struggle. But what a story. Thanks to @Cinfhen for putting it on my radar!
⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A very bittersweet memoir/ read. I grew up crushing on Michael J. Fox and was so jealous when he married Tracey Pollen. When MJF was diagnosed at age 28 with early Parkinson‘s Disease, I was heartbroken. It‘s clear that Michael has handled his disease with humor and grace. The love & devotion from his family is heartwarming. It‘s commendable how Michael has used his fame to advance research and resources for those suffering from Parkinson‘s. 👇🏼
I‘ve been dabbling in & out of this memoir the last 2 weeks #Hoopla / at times it‘s physically difficult to understand Michael‘s narration as his Parkinson‘s causes him to slur his words and other times it‘s emotionally difficult to comprehend how much his life has been tested. But his optimism, love for & from his family, tenacity and humor are inspiring.
He spoke so many times with such emotion, I would almost full on start crying. You could hear his voice break, and you could hear him at times almost start to cry himself. He's had an incredible and tough journey and his optimism is waning but he's filled with gratitude.
Been enjoying this audiobook on my #audiowalks
? This reminded me that there‘s always hope. He makes mistakes but keeps getting back up. If your internal monologue sucks, CHANGE IT! You are who YOU think you are.
He speaks so fast! Had to slow the playback to 1.25! I loved hearing him! He‘s still Marty McFly. His Parkinson‘s is crushing & his story is heartfelt. ?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Power is never given; it's always taken. That's what I learned from Game of Thrones.” Take back your power. Hope!
I now feel compelled to go back and read his previous books....and watch all of the shows he has been in. I clearly haven‘t been paying attention to all that he has accomplished, but I am intrigued. I also admire Fox‘s honesty concerning his Parkinson‘s diagnosis and all the ways this progressive disease has affected his life.
Just finished this up on audio. It was a nice read and gave some real insight into the things Michael J. Fox has gone through and his outlooks on things. Interesting read and enjoyable listening to him narrate the audiobook
In all fairness, he was my childhood crush; however, what an excellent attitude he has towards life dealing with Parkinson‘s and aging in general. This read gives a new perspective on #adversity and optimism. The audiobook even includes a chapter on the ill-fated year #2020 .
If you read one book this year let it be this one!!! I love Michael J Fox!!!
I‘ve been super excited since fist hearing about this newest book! After a particularly fraught day last week, I decided to treat myself. Sometimes, a girl just needs to order a few things online in order to make herself smile😁🤣
The guided type journal (with prompts) was an impulse that I just couldn‘t help myself. I‘m a sucker for journals & it looks interesting🙃
I grew up watching MJF (he turns 60 this year?!?), but I‘ve never read a book by him before. Here he frankly discusses living with Parkinson‘s and having the extra whammies of a spinal surgery to remove a tumor and a fall in the post-op period. I think this is a great book for anyone living with chronic disease or disability and those seeking to understand. He‘s matter of fact, real, and has a wonderful attitude. I‘m impressed.
I love his memoirs. They are so truthful and funny. This is going on my #nonfictionbingo2021 board later.
I read 50 pages through chapter 4. Just was not interested. I am sure some will love this book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this audiobook very much. I admire how Michael J Fox has handled his PD diagnosis and is still living his life to the very fullest. He shares all of his ups and downs. His family is amazing and I have nothing but admiration for them. My mother passed from ALS on September 22, 2018. These two diseases have many things in common.
Great book! I wanted more about his past but I gather he has written other books about it. This one is mostly about present time. Love that he narrated it.
Listening to this on my way to and from work. I love his style and his little funny anecdotes. It helps me understand my moms struggle with MS as he describes his battle with Parkinson's. While they aren't the same, some of the symptoms are similar. And so random that he's like good friends with George Stephonopalous!

In other audiobook news, maybe I‘m weird, but I can‘t focus on an #audiobook unless I speed it up. Even though I slowed down from my usual 2.0ish to 1.6x, it was still hard to understand Michael with the slight slur that his Parkinson‘s disease gives him. I‘ve put myself on the list for the ebook. Just FYI for other #speedfreaks. Food for thought.
I love this man and his big, brave heart. This was my 100th book this year!
You know you‘re a reader when your mom texts you first thing in the morning with a new book recommendation for you. 😆 I‘ll definitely be adding it to my TBR
Even though I was born in the late 80‘s, that was sooo my decade. Which meant I loved the Back to the Future movies/Michael J Fox. So this is absolutely up my alley
