Pickpick

This had a perfect pacing and that made this an intriguing read.

Characters could have been more fleshed out: Dinah was well-written. She was likable, and it was easy to root for her. But several secondary characters felt a bit flat.

I loved the dystopian world, but it didn't feel that horrifying because this was a YA book. But this was fun & entertaining.

The sinister organization rules Gotham City as a dictatorship and has stripped women of everything–their right to work, to make music, to learn, to be free. Now seventeen, Dinah can't forget that haunting sound, and she's beginning to discover that her own voice is just as powerful.

Mehso-so

Finished my first physical book of 2021 and first book to celebrate women‘s history month ! This is between a pick and a so-so. This book started off so promising. DC /YA version of Handmaids tale . But throw in unnecessary romance and an ending that was too quick and I found it lacking.

I hadn‘t read any of the DC Icons books yet because none of them have appealed to me... until now. I started this book a little bit ago and am well over half way through and loving it. Very dystopic, The Handmaid‘s Tale vibes, but with superhero hand wavy science and violence. This book is coming out in December and I‘m already ordering a copy for my shelves, thanks #Netgalley for getting me hooked ahead of time though. #BlackCanaryBreakingSilence
