We're with @Patchshank!

“Ghost stories used to be a Christmas Eve tradition. That really needs to make a comeback. Who's with me? 🎄👻

But it's a readathon for horror, thriller, murder mystery and so on. Set your own goals even if that goal is to not have a goal. Tag me in the review if you feel like it.“

@teebe here are my scary true horror books. I grew up in Queens, fairly close to the Amityville Horror House, and live in WV home to moth man. I typically find real life to be filled with terror- (see above books) so fictional horror rarely scares me. I also love the podcast Lore. Also, did anyone else love the book Audrey Rose? #creepycheistmasswap

LeahBergen I TOTALLY read Audrey Rose! 😆 4y
Lauranahe Stranger beside me is honestly the scariest book I‘ve read. I love the horror genre (I‘m watching a film right now...it‘s pretty cheesy and my phone is distracting me), but that book gave me nightmares. 4y
Kimzey My book club is reading The Stranger Beside Me next month. Im not sure I‘m up to it! 😳 4y

Chrissyreadit @LeahBergen 🙌😎🙌here‘s to the cool kids! 4y
Chrissyreadit @Lauranahe it made me terrified for my daughter to leave the house! (Still terrified) 4y
Chrissyreadit @Kimzey I read it as a Litsy buddy read and think it was easier to process with others if that helps. 4y
Kimzey @Chrissyreadit Yes, maybe that will help! 4y

Something fun for the #CreepyChristmas group or anyone else who wants to share. It doesn‘t need to be holiday-themed!

Ghost stories are one of my favourite traditions, and one of the major influences of my love for horror (besides watching scary movies way too young). It also spurred my interests in non-fiction books and history. Do you have a favourite “true” scary story?

MrsGagnonreads2024 I grew up in a haunted house. The house I grew up in was built by my great grandfather it known as the Dutch Kitchen in the town I grew up in. The front half was the restaurant and the back the living quarters. I very young when I started seeing ghost/spirits and my grandparents and parents just thought it was my imagination which they encouraged and thought the ghost I would describe was a imaginary person. Until one day I asked my grandpa why he 4y
MrsGagnonreads2024 had a picture of her on the wall in the living room and he told me that was my grandma‘s aunt who died when she was 5 by drowning in the lake on the property. One of my middle names is her name Ann and she was very active around Christmas to one year she turned on and off the tree lights which where not plugged in. And she also loved to roll balls down the stairs. And when my grandpa died I started seeing him in the house too. And to this day the 4y
MrsGagnonreads2024 people living there claim they hear a little girl laughing and a old man talking. 4y

Chrissyreadit @Endowarrior21 your story gave me chills!! 4y
Reynosa8701 The house I grew up in was haunted my sister claims something would always push her down the stairs! Our radio would always turn on by itself around 3am! One time my mom left us home alone me being the oldest at the time I think 12 we heard some scratches on the wall my dog even ran downstairs and we all stayed on the first level till our mom came home! Weird stuff always happened those are just a couple that really stick out! 4y
Captivatedbybooks I was always afraid of the basement in my old house as a child. One day I was sent downstairs to get something. I cried and cried and they forced me down. I went to retrieve whatever it was and from behind me I heard someone say my name. When I turned around all I saw a man i ran upstairs screaming my head off and apparently by my description the old man was a great uncle i had never met nor seen. When i was shown a picture i said thats him! 4y
Captivatedbybooks Im afraid of basements now and im 34 yrs old 4y

#CreepyChristmas pals, here‘s a little questionnaire to let your Secret Santa get to know you 💀🎄

Also, anyone can participate even if they aren‘t in the swap!🖤 For fun, my answers are ⬇️

teebe 2. Maybe not the scariest ever but it managed to give me a panic attack so…
3. #UnpopularOpinion The Shining and It are not scary. Enjoyable but not frightening. I don‘t think any Stephen King-based movies are.
4. Ghosts!
5. Art supplies? lol. Old cameras. A completely non-deliberate but ever-expanding hoard of The Nightmare Before Christmas items.
(edited) 4y
DinoMom 1- the ruins. 2. Nature having a creepy torturous action- I just happening to be reading it in the middle of woods on a camping trip. 3 I don‘t like most of the new horror movies .I like the classics or psychological scares 4. Classic movie monsters , werewolves, Frankenstein, swamp monster, etc. 5. Rocks& crystals, fun pattern reusable storage. Bags (like replacements for ziploc bags) I also have lots of avocado & taco themed things (edited) 4y
