I know her as a public figure & actress as opposed to for her music🎶 Nonetheless, I absolutely love❤️🔥 Dolly. This was like having ☕️coffee with an old friend. I loved it!🤓📚
I freaking love Dolly Parton. She is a national treasure. An amazing singer, storyteller, actress and all around good person. She is also a bad ass business person who has always just been fiercely herself no matter what others said or thought about it. She seems such a kind and wise person. Of course I adore her free books for children program too. I met her when I was a child but was too young to remember it. We need more Dolly in the world.
I listened to this one on audio last week. I‘m not a huge country music fan (even after living in NC for almost 20 years) but I like Dolly Parton. I love listening to her speak, she has such a soothing voice. I loved listening to how she creates her songs & the experiences she‘s had. My favorite quote was: “I might look like a show horse but I‘m a work horse.”She‘s a treasure & I‘m happy that she did this book to preserve her greatness. #bookspin
This is the second most adorable audiobook I've ever listened to!! Betty White still has the top spot. I don't listen to country music but who doesn't love Dolly?! The audio has basically curated interviews with Dolly along with snippets of the songs she's talking about. That's super helpful because I really only know 3 or 4 songs.... 😵💫😵💫😵💫
May not look it but the weather is so nice this weekend. That means long dog walks and audiobooks. Really liking this one! Dolly just feels like a friend when listening to her talk
Listening to this felt like I was eavesdropping on two old friends just chatting about music. I liked the addition of Dolly singing parts of the song they were talking about.
I was in the mood for something lighter and more escapism as the real world news is so depressing again… this was just perfect for that. Dolly being asked about different songs, career experiences, lyrics and then listening to her answer in her own voice, the uplifting happy bubbly voice we all know and associate with her. I might not know every song discussed, some I‘ll definitely look up now, but I definitely enjoyed this joyful listen. ⤵️
Dolly is a living saint. I highly recommend the audio book so you can hear her tell the stories behind her most famous songs. Smiled the entire time I was listening.

154 of 2021. I am not a big fan of country music, but I admire Dolly Parton. She is so down to earth and humble for being a successful artist. I enjoyed this trip thru some of her songs and how they came about. Really liked this book. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Currently listening to this while I work on projects.
Boy what a talker. She talks fast. Comfortable audible to listen to. She has the best personality.
Definitely do the audiobook for this one!
Not a super fan but I do admire Dolly Parton. I listend to the audio and read the physical book. It was fun!

This was a quick read with lots of great photos from Dolly‘s prolific career. Such admiration for this talented, savvy big-hearted human.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this! I‘m not a huge fan but she made this audiobook so interesting. She comes across as fun, positive, kind and caring and I loved how all her stories were interwoven with her songs and lyrics. It‘s a short one but kept my interest from start to finish and I love her accent too
A definite pick 🎸
Very good. I think because I listened to this rather than read the physical book it helped to enhance my experience of this book. Even though I have missed out on the beautiful pictures that the book provided I think that because it is a story of her songs and how her life has influenced them the audiobook version of this brings it all together in a way that a print book wouldn't. ⬇️

The stories behind some of Dolly's best songs. This was great on audio! It was like listening to an interview plus you hear portions of each song. #AudioJune @Allylu
I couldn‘t decide between reading this book for all the pictures or listening to the audiobook to hear the music. In the end, I decide to do both. So fun.
This is a great audiobook! Dolly narrates it but it's like she is sitting down having a conversation with you about some of her songs and the people in her life. She has really good & interesting things to say and is humorous as well.
Happy Mother‘s Day to me!
I liked this book a lot. The audiobook feels like an extended interview, with a male narrator bringing up an issue and Dolly going into depth on it. There are some things that she won‘t answer yes or no to — like whether or not she and Porter Waggoner ever had an affair — but that lack of an answer doesn‘t feel like a cheat. I also learned how much of Dolly‘s identity was wrapped up in her being a songwriter rather than a singer.
I was going to listen to Jenny Lawson‘s new book, but on the heels of Solutions and Other Problems, I needed something a little lighter. Dolly Parton, Songteller was my choice because I‘ve developed an appreciation for Dolly in my old age.#audiowalk

Dolly talking with a male voiceover filling in with questions. The importance of telling a story thru lyrics & TONS of song samples!
From growing up in the mountains of TN with 11 siblings to being married for over 50 years.
I learned a lot about her, her family, friends, songs, other artists. I‘m not a fan of country music but she seems genuine & nice .. that‘s why I bought this. Not disappointed.

5⭐️ || You can‘t go wrong with Dolly! The audio was a fun listen as she narrates and sings. It was a light-hearted listen that hit the spot!
This is lovely! Adore all the beautiful photos! She talks about her songs and her life alongside the lyrics to her songs! So gorgeous! You can't help but hear her voice and accent telling you her stories! By far my prettiest book!
I got the book from the library and did a free trial with audible so I could listen at the same time.
This was so much fun! I loved hearing Dolly tell the stories of growing up one of 12 kids in a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee, her early years trying to get into music and the stories behind her songs.
LOVED it!! Her voice, her stories, the way she spoke, everything!!! I dont even like country music but I loved this book!
This book was great, but that‘s really no surprise. I loved hearing Dolly talk about her life and her songs. The audiobook also includes snippets of her songs throughout, which is especially good for the less familiar ones. She seems exactly as I‘d want her to be!
I just love Dolly! She‘s such an awesome human. This was like having a glass of wine with her while she tells you about the stories and inspirations behind many of her songs. And the audio includes snippets of those songs! If you like Dolly herself or her music, I totally recommend!

#pop21 - a book you think your best friend would like because @MallenNC is both a Dolly fan and a music lover!
I love Dolly Parton. She's such a wonderful and kind person. This book tells the inspiration and stories behind over 100 of her songs. All the big ones are in it, along with some of her favorites. She's too classy to actually say it, so I will, that Porter Wagoner was a douchebag and was holding her back.
Thanks to @OriginalCyn620 for letting me know our library had this audiobook available on Libby. I got it yesterday and have already listened to more than half of it. I love hearing Dolly talk!
A week into March & I realized I never posted February totals!

I just love Dolly Parton. I listened to this as an audio book and it felt more like an interview really - having a chat 😊 I loved hearing parts of the songs she was talking about and I admire her honesty and heart. 🦋🦋🦋🦋
At this point I feel like it should go without saying that any content created by Dolly about her music/lyrics/life is going to be brilliant. 💖 This was wonderful on audio, with song snippets and Dolly‘s conversational narration. I think I'll check out the print or ebook too, just for the photos.
One of my favorite things to read about is how really successful people work. In Songteller Dolly Parton talks about her songwriting and how so many of her songs came about. I found it fascinating that for all the things she‘s famous for she really seems to consider it all to be in support of her songwriting. Now off to listen to 9 to 5 on repeat for a while.
This was as delightful as I thought it would be. 100+ very short "spoken essays" (read by Dolly, of course) about her songs. I've always said that she's one of the best songwriters/storytellers to have ever lived. And her memory for detail is astounding - some of these anecdotes happened 50 years ago. Any Tennessean will tell you what a treasure Dolly is. HIGHLY recommend on audio.

So excited to get this audiobook from the library - read by Dolly, of course! #readingwithmyears
Dolly is a great singer, songwriter, and humanitarian. This book spans her career from her Smokey Mountain childhood to her multimedia success today. Full of song lyrics and photos, Dolly gives insight into what she was thinking when she wrote each song and musings on her career and life.
The #audiobook features Dolly singing and talking, but the ebook was the right choice for me because I wanted to see her photos & physically read her lyrics. ⬇️
