With a tropical storm keeping me indoors, I get time to read! ⛈☔️

I had other things I should be reading, but this arrived today and it was perfect. I laughed so hard, tears were pouring down my face, and I miss my home state even more now. Dave Barry doesn‘t take himself or Florida too seriously, which makes this a delightful guide to The Sunshine State. ☀️❤️

I must have been feeling a little homesick for my home state when I placed my last book order. Florida Man was my choice from Penguin‘s reader reward program. I‘ve been curious about the Dave Barry book for a while, especially since I miss his column in the newspaper. The Deep just has the most gorgeous cover. Yep-that was a pure cover buy. 🤣🤣 Here‘s hoping the inside is as good as the outside!

This was just the perfect read for the last few stressful days. Easy, one that you can read a section or two and set it down. Laugh out loud funny, especially for someone who has lived in Florida as long as I have. I recommend this for anyone who wants some comic distraction.

1. Anything by Dave Barry cracks me up, but I‘m reading this now, and it‘s hilarious.

3. I prefer summer sports, which is a good thing living in Florida, but I love watching all sports.

Happy Boxing Day. Premier League and Dave Barry make for a great morning. I‘m going to be in soccer/football overload for the next week. This fun, easy read is an excellent accompaniment.

Book gifts from hubby. It‘s been a fun Christmas morning. We have a tradition of writing clues on gift tags, and the recipient has to try and guess what it is. Hubby handed me two geology/paleontology books to use as references to help me deal with the clues he‘d devised. I‘ve never laughed so hard😂

I have to get ready for school, but #DavidCat is sleeping.

I don‘t live in Florida (I live about 10 miles away in Georgia) but I work in Florida and have seen many of these “attractions”. Quick, fun book!

I have a fondness for Florida; my husband & I got married there and our son was born there. We vacation there now. So this book, by a writer who also clearly loves Florida and makes gentle fun of it as well, was a pleasure for me. I learned about some FL attractions we have to go see, such as Cassadega, the town full of mediums and psychics.

Sure much of the humor read like an endless stream of dad jokes, but it was a fast, funny, and easy read. Here is Buster, in the background, wondering why I am not doing better things with my time, like cuddling him. #pugsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy

We are like Ellis Island, except instead of taking the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we take people who yearn to pleasure themselves into a stuffed animal at Walmart.

Waiting for a swim meet to start in the best state ever. We do have some weird stuff happen here so hope this is entertaining!

This is a light, frothy, funny frolic through Florida with the very capable Dave Barry. He can have his state, but I enjoyed hearing about the Skunk Ape (the Florida bigfoot), alligators, retirement communities, and Spongeorama. A quick diversion.

Dave Barry is correct in saying that Tim Dorsey knows more about Florida than anyone else!!

You think your state is weird? Dave Barry shows us why Florida takes the cake. Do you have a skunk ape as pictured? Florida does. How about a million gator parks. Again Florida. A museum devoted to sponges. Yup. Florida for the win. I laughed out loud repeatedly through this book. He always finds the funny along with the heart of the people he talks to. Highly recommend for those in need of a good chuckle.

Because he slays me, and now living in Texas, I love crazy states and all their character!
