This f***ing hurts to hear the allegations against NG. I‘m listening to Council of Geeks commentary on Tortoise Media‘s podcast about Scarlett, K. and Caroline coming forward with their stories. I‘ll eventually get around to listening to TM and as well as Claire on the Am I Broken podcast. For the moment I need to process the news.

I finally picked my 1st libro.fm audiobook. It's true I already have a physical copy, but it is a chonker. And I cannot resist this man's voice. Now I can sit outside and do my spinning or knitting while listening/reading. It's a perfect win/win situation. (Edited to say I abandoned it when the SA news came out).

This collection of writing by the incomparable Neil Gaiman was already well on its way to a 5-Star rating when I came to: Nothing O‘Clock (2013). Gaiman wrote Doctor Who fanfic and my nerdy little heart exploded. I. Can‘t. Even. Gaiman gets all the stars. All. The. Stars.

After the jolt to my soul of trudging my way through a novel by an author I normally greatly enjoy, I was gun-shy to pick up this book by the always brilliant Neil Gaiman. But alas, mere seconds into this audiobook book I was nestled inside the warmth of Neil‘s narration and the wonder of his storytelling. Fear not, Uncle Neil to the rescue.

Monday I got to hear Neil Gaiman speak. He‘s one of my favorite living authors & it was such a joy to listen to him joke & answer questions. He read essays & poems (Chivalry). He has such an incredible skill for storytelling & the perfect voice to read his work. There's something so magical about an entire sold-out auditorium listening with rapt attention as someone reads to them. It's so different from our normal society doing 15 things at once.

I can confirm that you are NEVER too old to listen to someone read stories to you…stories, poetry about Batman, about refugees, anecdotes about Terry Prachett, Gene Wolfe, and updates on all the tv happening—Good Omens 2, Anansi Boys and, of course, Sandman. So much fun. If you ever have the chance to see Neil Gaiman in person, I highly recommend doing so. He is a consummate storyteller and wonderfully entertaining.

Nelnjali Oh, I bet this was amazing! 😍 I would love to listen to him tell stories. I did have the pleasure of watching him in the stage production of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when he was the Voice of the Book, which was delightful. 3y
TracyReadsBooks @Nelnjali Wow! That sounds amazing! 3y
tjwill I could listen to him forever. I hope to see him speak in person someday. 3y

I guess I‘m reading a big book next. I had to dig a fat hardcover from the TBR piles. My new bookmark needed an appropriate home. Isn‘t it lovely?!?

I can‘t find a listing on Litsy for this short story, but this audible original was a fun little read for any fans of Neil Gaiman. He read it himself and it‘s brief, but I enjoyed it. An astronaut wakes up as his ship is failing only to discover his name is Neil Gaiman. He remembers nothing else.

BkClubCare Added to my Audible library, thank you. 3y
AvidReader25 @BkClubCare It‘s quick and fun! Also, I could listen to Gaiman all day. 3y

Great collection of fantasy and other stories, most of which I had not read before. Black Dog is a tingly ghost story. Some remind me of Ray Bradbury. Even has a good Dr Who story. Brilliant.

Will start reading this since I feel obligated. I won it in an online sort of raffle! I think from Goodreads. I like Neil Gaiman though. Haven't seen or read Good Omens though.

🎧 📚 Holy SMOKE!! Neil Gaiman is a dirty bird. Maybe I just never noticed but with a pile of short stories/entries, BAM! In your face! LOL

He reads it. The stories vary and include new content. All short or excerpts from novels & all chosen by his readers.

The thing you may like about this is that each “story” is a chapter & that makes it easy to jump around based on your available time. I enjoyed the stories! Love me some Gaiman!

Book presents are the best presents! 🎁

“Books make great gifts because they have whole worlds inside of them. And it's much cheaper to buy somebody a book than it is to buy them the whole world!”

I apologize in advance for nerding out . . . I got my copy of the Neil Gaiman Reader today. It‘s wonderful! It is populated with stories, all but one, selected by a fan vote taken earlier in the year. On Monday Mr Gaiman said he “put his thumb on the scale” for the last story - Monkey and the Lady - because he loves it and he wanted his fans to have it. 👇🏻

Ericalambbrown There are 52 stories, in chronological order. And his exquisitely creepy Click-Clack the Rattlebag is included (I‘m not sure I‘ve forgiven him for that one, tbh) as well as some of his fairy tale retellings and excerpts of many of his novels. If you have anyone in your life that loves short fiction or anyone you‘d like to introduce to Gaiman, this is an exceptional collection. 4y
GingerAntics Excuse me while I nerd out with you!!!! I want this book sooooo bad!!! This is another book that I definitely need in physical format to properly rebuild my library. 4y
Ericalambbrown @GingerAntics Right? It‘s one that will be comforting to hold in your hands. 4y

Marlon James interviewing Neil Gaiman on this rainy afternoon makes it the best afternoon. Here Mr James is talking about how much Mr Nancy means to him. 💕 I highly recommend signing up for any online event with either of these gentlemen should you get the chance.

vivastory I was really tempted to sign up for this one...kind of regretting not doing so. Hoping they'll eventually post it online 4y
Heideschrampf Oooooh ❤️ 4y
Ericalambbrown @vivastory I wanted to order the tagged book anyway, so ordering it from one of the indie shops on the list seemed like a good reason to sign up 😊 4y

vivastory @Ericalambbrown I wasn't aware of this shop until recently when I became more active on Instagram (browsing, not posting) & I've always loved their posts. I'm a bit tempted to visit them in the spring as they're only 4 hrs away from where I live 4y
DrexEdit I was so very tempted to sign up, but $$ is short these days. I'm sorry to miss it, but glad that it's turning out to be as excellent as I thought it might be! 😊 4y
Ericalambbrown @vivastory what shop were you looking at? There were 10 or so involved into today‘s event. I ordered through Magic City Books in Tulsa, which was the closest to me. 4y
Ericalambbrown @DrexEdit I completely get that. I‘ve missed other opportunities for the very same reason. I hope you keep watching for events when things are better - it was lovely. When covid is finally over, his in-person events are often free or really reasonable, too. 4y
vivastory @Ericalambbrown Magic City Books is the one I saw that posted it 4y
