On the eve of the global lockdown, Don Barlow opens the door of his old beachside cottage to find a pretty girl with pink-tipped hair, claiming to have nowhere to go.
He allows her entry, and so begins a mystery set in unprecedented times: with the virus raging outside their home, the girl cannot be asked to leave, but what does he risk by having her stay?

This is my first time reading anything by Caroline Overington, so I didn‘t know what to expect when I started this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the development of this story line. I liked the characters, the beach town seemed lovely, and the suspenseful buildup was great.

Set during the pandemic in Australia, this story is about a girl claiming to be the main character‘s granddaughter & moves into his house. Is he being conned? Or is she really his granddaughter? The narrator is excellent. The story is excellent, too, but a bit anxiety-inducing because it‘s during the pandemic and there‘s concern the MC, a lonely widower, might be a victim of a cruel scam. There are some surprises you don‘t see coming!

Freespirit I‘ve never heard of this..thank you for sharing 4y

#thoughtfulthursday Thanks @MoonWitch94 for the tag!

🌟 No! I didn‘t know there was one! 😕
🌟 Starting school, even though it‘s 34 years since high school graduation. In my day, school started in September.
🌟 I‘m on the last 30 minutes of the tagged audiobook. It‘s set in the pandemic, and can be slightly anxiety-inducing. But now it‘s almost over and I‘m finding out the “mystery,” yes it is enjoyable.

Want to play @freeatlast1137 ?

MoonWitch94 You‘re welcome! I agree....September will always mean Back to School! 🍎 4y

Cleaning and organizing my study while trying to finish this audiobook and came across this photo (right) of my grandmother (mom of @Doll8455 ) I never met. So I set it beside these photos of my parents when they were quite young, which I just had to share.

This is my genealogy shelf, with a lot of Texas history since some of my family settled here before it was a state.

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I love old family photos! Such precious snippets of history! ❤️ 4y
Chrissyreadit I love your pictures! And how long your family has been in Texas. 4y
AmyG I love these. I have a geneology shelf or two, too. I miss my family. It‘s nice to see them when I want. 4y
