pickTrigger warning for sexual assault! This was a REALLY good book, a retelling of the Snow Queen. But, it was also so so so difficult. McLemore‘s writing is a lot flowery sometimes, but it wasn‘t quite so over the top as it is in some of their books. #OwnVoices

pickThis book was intense for YA, with the heavy subject of coming to terms with a sexual assault. I thought the author handled it delicately. There are some interesting magical realism aspects to the story, and the MC is pansexual, which was nice to see.

pickThere‘s a lot to like about The Mirror Season. It‘s beautifully written, tackles a lot of topics (sexuality, assault, family, friendships, bullying) and they‘re done well.
Only thing I didn‘t like/understand was the mirror glass. I just didn‘t get the point in the story. Hopefully book club peeps will help me out here.
