This was a very interesting book! Lots of insight. A bit dated but still really good!

Solid read, even more of a solid spontaneous adventure to Edmund Kemper‘s home this afternoon. Can‘t wait to get this Book Nerd Travel on the blog, Santa Cruz area serial killers have always been fascinating (and terrifying) to me, considering I‘ve worked and lived (within 20 miles) of so many of the crimes I‘ve read and listened to podcasts on.

I finished the second season of Mindhunter, and I found this title in a list of “If You Like Mindhunter” books. This is an older book, and it shows. The author has rather ancient attitudes toward homosexuality, and I was appalled at his reference to the Central Park Jogger case. I hope that the author has since adjusted his views.The bulk of the book is a fascinating look at the study of serial killers - what drives them and how to find them.

I listened to this book as an audiobook. The narration was almost like a computer generated voice. As for the book itself, I found the discussion of actual cases interesting however the author certainly reveals his biases with respect to both race (he references the Central Park jogger case with admiration) and homosexuality. His dismissive treatment of persons of color and prisoners was really off putting.

The formatting of the book wasn‘t my favorite, but for this true crime fan it was still so interesting. I was fascinated by Robert Ressler‘s personal accounts with serial killers like Ed Kemper and Jeffrey Dahmer but was also humbled by his reminder to not romanticize these killers. Recommend for true crime fans for his insights on these killers and the criminal justice system.

25 years old and a little redundant at times. Overall though it was such an interesting and intriguing look at this FBI agent‘s development of criminal profiling and interviews and insight into serial killers. #nonfiction #audiobook

Started reading this last night for my book club! Super excited already. I love books like this!

I listened to this one, and I thought it would be an interesting behind the scenes into the world that's being portrayed in the Netflix show Mindhunter. It sort of was but the audio sounded a lot like the beginning of that old show Dragnet, that sort of stilted rapid fire speech. It had a textbook feel and didn't delve so much into his life outside of the work which I think would have balanced it a little more. A little interesting, but not for me

I‘m in a “busy season” at work, working 60+ hours a week and am unable to read anything except big books about tax law, ew. I miss reading ☹️ thank goodness for audiobooks but this one is so interesting it does distract me a little! The author is a little pedantic but he coined the term serial killer so it‘s acceptable- if you like true crime, this is for you.
