Clever mouse. 😏 I can definitely see why it's a classic. I'm a sucker for a rhyming tale with good illustrations, especially when the protagonist succeeds by outwitting those who thought they had the upper hand.

Cathythoughts I love this book. 3d
SarahBookInterrupted One of my kids favourite books when they were young. It‘s my go to gift for toddler birthday party‘s or baby showers. 3d

Such an intriguing book, and an intriguing theory. A good time to be reading books that help me understand monsters of the human variety.

This was the #QueerBC book from, what, October? Also my choice for “featuring a cryptid“ for @Faranae's #URC. I can't imagine a more interesting cryptid!

Word of the month #reflect
Leo makes a decision.
Illustrations in kid-lit are often described as simple (condescending?). The concept of reflection is not simple. In drawing, gesture is the technique used to convey meaning, but we don't label illustrations like we name literary devices. Maybe if we did, educators would teach more using graphic novels. What would you call them though?

Tagged is a low pick. It is billed as reverse harem with sexy superpowered faery suitors, and honestly it needed more smut 😂
so it lost out to a YA fantasy for #weeklyfavorites25 🙃 @Read4life

Opened my #LittleChristmasSwap this morning. Thank you @kspenmoll !! - I‘m glad I waited until the opening date. There was a gift bag inside the box, but it was outside the bag, how silly!

One of my most anticipated books of 2024 - and I actually read it in the same year it published!! A rare feat for me! I really enjoyed not only the story but Wiswell‘s writing style, I look forward to whatever story comes next from him.

#12booksof2024 : August

The audiobook was excellent.

Andrew65 Good choice. 1mo

4 ⭐ This book was a little long, but it needed to be. This is for an older kid at bedtime. Posey loves the story of monsters read to her every night by her dad and she knows exactly how to take care of them. If only her parents could get her to stay in bed. But can pose defeat the zombies? This book was a lot of fun and the illustrations are fantastic.

Tomorrow I‘ll post my end-of-year reading brackets with my top reads of 2024. These are the ones that made the “top of the bottom” list.

Texreader Love this! I may have to do the same! Calling out those bad books! 1mo
willaful The only one of these I've tried is the Klune, which I DNF'd. 1mo
Amiable @willaful I made it through, but only because it was fairly short. 😬 1mo

Amiable @Texreader I appear to be in the minority with “The Women,” though. Lots of people have it on their best-of lists. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Totally not for me. 😖 1mo
BarbaraBB Oh no, I gave this one on my shelves 1mo
CarolynM I think there‘d be just one book on my worst of list 🥴 1mo
Amiable @BarbaraBB It was more “meh” than “yeah.” I did manage to finish it, so that‘s something. 1mo
Amiable @CarolynM I think that book was on The New York Times‘ “best of 2024” list but I hear terrible things about it so I‘m so confused. 😬😀 1mo
CSeydel I heard Rob Henderson on a podcast a while ago and was pretty impressed with him. The book wasn‘t so good, though? Too bad 4w
Amiable @CSeydel I didn‘t care for it. I‘ve never heard of him before this. 4w
