(Odin be praised) These amazing texts from the 13th century Icelandic manuscript are of huge historical, mythological, and literary importance, containing the Lion's share of information that survives today about the gods and heroes of pre-christian Scandinavians, their unique vision of the beginning and the end of the world, etc.
pickI listened to this for Poetry Month and it was delightful to finally listen to the Poetic Edda. I have the Hollander Version in paperback, but never really connected with it. But I really understood the poems in this version, it seemed so accessible.
