Bailedbailed

Pretentious and sexist, I bailed on this book after chapter 3. I like the idea of a book based mystery that is not a cozy mystery, but I don‘t have time for a bunch of bros.

BookNerdMama Spot. On. 2y
iread2much @BookNerdMama thank you. I‘m glad that I wasn‘t totally biased on this review 😅 2y

Mehso-so

3/5
Final book finished for #LMPBC. It was a little bit pretentious and “bro-y” for me, but still enjoyed the fact that it was a mystery about a book and thought there was some good writing in here. All in all, I had so much fun with my first round of #LMPBC! Thanks ladies!

Bad reviews on Litsy and bad review from @Momreviews PASS! #momreviews

GingerAntics She did not mince words here. 6y
Texreader @GingerAntics 🤣🤣🤣 This note cracked me up. When Litsy agreed I moved it to the giveaway stack pronto. The big question was whether to leave her note on it! 6y
GingerAntics 🤣😂🤣 you could, but I‘m sure someone would take it off before it went any further. 6y

#OldCoolBooks #Incunabulum
An incunabulum is a book printed before 1501 so there's no way I have that. This book on my #TBR is about four Princeton seniors trying to solve a mystery contained in the (real) Hypnerotomachia Poliphili (The Dream of Poliphilus) a incunabulum published in Venice in 1499. (The illustration is from that text--thanks Wikipedia!) The reviews on Litsy are mixed so who knows if/when I'll actually get around to reading it.😬

DebinHawaii In case you are interested in this incunable: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnerotomachia_Poliphili 7y

Day #4 Of #NovemberbytheNumbers. I read this book about a decade ago & thought it would be perfect for this challenge....but couldn‘t find my copy, so I made it part of my most recent #libraryhaul. #ilovelibraries #theotherthreebookaareMargaretAtwood

Andrew65 I really enjoyed this book but many years since I read it. 7y
lauren.lerner I remember enjoying it as well, @Andrew65, but it‘s been forever so I‘m not sure what I liked about it or why... or if I‘d still like it now! #changingtastes 7y

Just finished the Rule of Four! I've been in a very murder- in-academia mood lately. This is what would happen if Dead Poets Society and The Da Vinci code had a baby but also a beautifully written coming of age story about 4 friends attending Princeton in the 90's who become sucked into solving the mystery behind an ancient renaissance text, but someone else is after the book... and they're willing to kill to get it. 😱

I had a hard time with this book. The only female character was portrayed as weak and always in need of a man. None of the characters had any depth to them, nor did the story. I probably would've bailed on this one early on during a particularly boring chapter if I wasn't waiting for another audiobook I have on hold to come in.

Ok so this book sucked. I got it for free at a hostel in NZ to read to my husband as he drove us around the South Island. BUT it went into such depth about Princeton University that I couldn't wait to go visit (I love going to college campuses & going to every Ivy League school is on my bucket list [so far I've been to 4]). This is Firestone Library, Princeton's main library. #funfridayphoto #library #PicByMe

LectricSheep I went there for undergrad! When you go, make sure you also go to the rotunda in East Pyne, which is literally right next to Firestone. The rotunda is also a beautiful library and a great reading/study spot (there's a cafe in the basement). 8y
Alisnazzy @LectricSheep I wish I had known about this! I thought the campus was stunningly gorgeous, but my son started having a toddler tantrum so I didn't get to explore quite as much as I would've liked 😔 8y
LectricSheep @ambrosnazzy Oh I see, you already went! Campus is beautiful this time of year. :) 8y
Alisnazzy @LectricSheep I would've loved to go inside Firestone, but most college libraries these days only allow current students or alumni in so I had to settle for taking a pic of the outside. But the architecture was so beautiful, I didn't mind lol. I also got to a bookstore across the street as well that had some really good book sales going on. Princeton was 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 8y
LectricSheep Labyrinth! That bookstore is the best. I've driven out there (I live in Philly now) just for the bookstore. If you ever wanna go back, let me know-- I can give you allllll the details about the best food and ice cream. :) 8y
