Dragon Bones by Patricia Briggs

Personally I like Mercy Thompson much better but this was still a great read. Can‘t wait to see how the story continues in Dragon Blood.

I am so, so, so far behind. I will attempt to catch up. Oh my.

The following will not be in order. I'm going to do my Libby books and then my Audible books, and then my eyeball books. Which is not at all the order they were read, but I'll get them all accounted for at least.

Hopefully, by *finally* finishing this book (that I started in October), my way-too-lengthy reading slump is coming to an end. #SFFTBR

Overall, a solid 3.5 stars. Read my full review on Goodreads:

Thanks for the tag @GingerAntics ☺️

1. Oh so many things, but mainly correspondence that I‘ve fallen so far behind on. I owe several people much overdue letters.
2. Writing & mailing Christmas cards is my #1 priority this weekend
3. Ginger snaps - the key is fresh ground black pepper to give them that extra snap. This is my fave recipe: https://www.finecooking.com/recipe/ginger-snaps

CouronneDhiver *sigh* Me too. I‘m have at least 6 JB cards I need to catch up on. 6y
wanderinglynn @CouronneDhiver Only 6? 😂 I‘m in double digits, including one to you! 🤭 6y
CouronneDhiver Ha! Well, take your time. I‘m happy with quality over speed any day 👍🏽 December is bananas for everyone, I think 6y

Sitting at the Subaru dealership waiting for Slyvie (my silver Subaru) to be serviced. Thankfully, I always have a book or 2 with me.

ravenlee I thought this was a good duology. It kind of surprised me. 6y
wanderinglynn @ravenlee So far I‘m enjoying it. But I was already a fan of hers. (edited) 6y
ravenlee Me too, but I waited on it for a long time because I thought it couldn‘t possibly be as good as Mercy. And it wasn‘t, to me, but it was plenty good on its own! 6y
AlaMich Funny but true story...My wife just had some major work done on her Forester. A few days ago Subaru of America sent her a Dyson cordless vacuum as a thank you. She will be a Suby owner forever. 😂 6y
wanderinglynn @AlaMich 👍🏻 I love my Subaru. The dealership I take her to provides super service & I didn‘t even buy the car there. I‘m definitely a life-long Suby owner too. 6y

Fabulous fantasy! Ward is the heir to a castle full of dragon bones and a man pretending to have mental difficulties after being nearly beaten to death by his father. After his father‘s death, he has to prove he is capable and it‘s all been an act while at the same time protecting his people from evil mages and betrayals. This is a complex book with characters who are not always clearly “good” or “bad”. Also TW for abuse.

wanderinglynn Ooh, I love Patricia Briggs, but I haven‘t read this one. I‘ll have to pick it up. 👍🏻😀 6y
CoffeeK8 @wanderinglynn this is an old one that was rereleased! She actually has like 6 or 8 books she wrote before Mercy that are historical fantasy 6y

Excellent, solid fantasy. First of 2 (#2: Dragons Blood). Briggs is subtle and delightfully sly, weaving believable flaws and threads of the disturbing into the good guys, flaws we recognize in ourselves. Entertaining, surprising at times. Definitely recommend.
