Even though I loved being placed in a fancy Australian hotel back in 1926 with all the rich people that could stay for months at a time, it took me forever to finish. It was my last book challenge book of 2019. I just was not compelled to pick it up. Even though I loved the setting, the characters were not likable. I loved Wildfire Hill by this author. I will read more of her books. This one was not my favorite. 3⭐️ #2020book7

Never read this author before, but with a cover this beautiful and a price of $2, how could I not buy it.

In 1926, he's a young, rich, man from an old high society family who falls in love fast & hard with a waitress at his hotel. Despite the impossibility of their relationship, he's full of hopes & dreams for their future to the point of ignoring reality. The opium addiction may have contributed. 🙃

Definitely the best book I have read from a subscription box! This was a Lit-Cube book from a year ago, but I finally got around to it. Really good historical fiction with a modern-day story happening in parallel...if you like Kate Morton, you will probably enjoy this book. Great writing, setting, and characters. 😃
