#ConflictedWorlds Day 20: #PersonVsTechnology. Fats‘ review: “it makes a bold statement – a brave declaration – on the value of books to society. Technology gets outdated over time. Books are books, no matter how many decades have gone by. It‘s a Book is a charming read, and it definitely deserves a spot in your bookshelf.” More here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5K

Readergrrl I use this book in my classroom as an intro to senior English. ❤️❤️❤️ 3y

Dropped by the library this morning to pick up some books for @LibrarianRyan ‘s #bbrc Birth & Beyond Reading Challenge, which starts on Monday. Think this might be fun. Also think these might not keep til Monday, so maybe I should tackle them now!

Quite surprised in what I found in my first, very hurried, raid of the picture book bins.

Cathythoughts I love the it !! It‘s a book ! Brilliant 5y

Mehso-so

Meh. The concept is funny, and because my kids think swearing is hilarious, they were thrilled by the mild expletive at the end, but overall, it just doesn‘t work. It is weirdly formatted and very disjointed. Look, obviously I love books, but you don‘t get kids to read them by assuming they are idiots that don‘t understand that you can‘t text with a book.

(I highly recommend the board book version of this one, called It's a Little Book, for kiddos. Both mine love it, this one is not quite as great to be honest)

So proud of my niece... she read 450 minutes last month so let the book it celebration begin!!! I love that I get to pass my love of reading down to her!! The best part was that she wanted to bring a book with her to Pizza Hut!

Karkar I used to love doing the Book It program as a kid. 7y
Kshakal @Karkar me too!!! 7y
Craftylikefox I LOVED that program when I was kid! It‘s great to see it is still going strong :) 7y

I‘ve been “writing” a picture book (mostly - but not entirely - in my head) for the last few years & I think I finally had a breakthrough this morning in the shower (clearly the best place to think).

It‘s “about” Frankenstein, girl power, acceptance, nature, & a slew of other things I‘m not ready to talk about yet but...hell yeah! 🙌🏻 The essence of my breakthrough was: keep it simple, stupid! Which...of course. But, you know how it is.🤷‍♀️

I prefer paper books. The tactile and olfactory sensations are HIGHLY appealing to me. But my hands hurt, all the time. I cannot hold a book for very long, the bigger book the more pain. So ebooks are what I read. When I love a book, I then buy a paper copy, usually a paperback, so I have more shelf space. #bookishquestionoftheweek @BookishGirl06

I read this hilarious 21st century book in class prior to spring break. It makes me laugh every time I read it. At this point, the spring 2017 children's literature class has posted approximately 220 great books with fabulous resources! Read on! #ucflae3414sp17

A friend at work brought me this picture book to read during a lunch conversation the other day. It details the differences between physical books and electronic devices. It's fantastic.

Zelma I love Lane Smith! 😍 8y

I like books. I can't help it. I do read e-books occasionally, mostly on my phone. E-reading makes me aware of how much I like to flip about in a book. And in general, I find I connect less with a book when I read it on a screen. That said, they can't be beat for the middle of the night. #seasonsreadings2016 @RealLifeReading

rubyslippersreads My cat just chews on the iPad case. 😸 8y
Jenshootsweddings Totally agree 8y
Daisey I get the flipping pages thing. It's one of the things I miss most when reading an ebook, although I'm slowly getting better at using bookmarks and highlighting for that purpose. 8y

merelybookish @Daisey I can see that. I just haven't wanted to invest the time. 8y
cathysaid And you can't sniff an eReader. Well, I suppose you could but it wouldn't be nearly as satisfying. 👃 8y
Tamra I agree. For some reason an eReader doesn't hold my attention. 8y
Zelma I am careful about what I read digitally versus paper. Anything with graphics, creative design, footnotes, etc. has to be paper. I prefer paper but sometimes my nook fits a need so it's useful. 8y
