I‘m not really sure if I liked this … for me it was just okay… on the long-winded side it could have been shorter but it was not what I expected … idk if I‘m just having one of those weeks were anything I read is so-so 🧐😣

YA fantasy vampire novel with a unique premise, but I ultimately felt there was something missing!! Idk if it was just a bit too YA for me or if it‘s something else. I enjoyed the story, was intrigued where it was going, but ultimately felt a little underwhelmed by the end. 3/5
Can I just say I really loved this book. I took my time reading it, only reading when I had plenty of time and when life was the least stressful. It is wonderful to have such a good story to keep you company!
Now back to reading neverwhere by Neil gaiman
Someone is way to cozy and warm in the hammock on the cat tree to keep me company today!
North Beach on the YP. Had a beautiful day. Tomorrow I‘m doing nothing but reading and resting.
It‘s Salems gotcha day. I can‘t believe it‘s been a year of cyclone Salem!
Went for a drive yesterday as part of my son‘s birthday celebration week. Our first stop was here in the river Murray. We wanted to check out Bertha the bunyip, and this time she was working. It‘s beautiful along the river and so peaceful:)
Went for a walk along Brighton jetty and the resident seal was having a snooze:)
This didn‘t at all go where I was expecting at the start of the book, but I still enjoyed it. The plot was good but I wanted to get to know the characters better. I must admit that I got lost a few times too, but I did have a great time reading 😊
Finally starting this after all these years! 🩸

This question was inspired by the audiobook of The Coldest Girl I'm Coldtown by Holly Black. It has random spooky sounding music that makes it sound like something is coming. It just doesn't seem to make sense where it's placed. I think it would be really cool if it is saved and used at just the right moment.

I don‘t know why but I have some inner complex where I feel like audiobooks are not “real” enough when it comes to reading. Happily changing this inner narrative. Through so many mental health struggles physical reading has been tiring and challenging. Audiobooks are giving me life and making me feel like myself again. I‘m so glad they have brought me back to this world this last year. Driving and audio booking is now my favorite way to de stress.
I loooooooooved this book. Fell in love with the characters and the world- which was immersive and well built. The author fed details at just the right times, by the end you feel like you could exist in this world. A convincing fun dystopian- of the few vampire books Iv read this is a huge favorite. I wish there were more steamy scenes but the romance was stellar without anything over the top. Lots of blood. Thrilling. Not too gross. Reading was✨
I'm using #adventrecommends to catch up on some reviews I didn't get to this year!
I was honestly surprised by how much I LOVED this book. I've been on a vampire kick lately, mostly classics, and I'm not super into post-apocalyptic stuff, but this thing got it's fangs into me early and I'm SO glad it didn't let go! This was addictive and sexy, and yet I feel like it also let you grapple with the horror. Highly recommend!! 💙🧛🏼♀️

My letter C book is the Coldest girl in Coldtown by Holly Black.
This book has a great opening: the protagonist, Tana, wakes up in a bathtub to find that everyone at the party she attended the night before is dead. However, it goes downhill from there. I had such high hopes, but the plot meandered all over the place and I really just didn‘t care what happened to the characters.
I have to admit I almost didn‘t read this one. So I added it to my bookspin list I‘m glad I did. This was such a good vampire read. So creative. Loved the plot, the characters, basically everything. Very engrossing read. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

💙 The coldest girl in coldtown-it's been a week since I've read but so far a pick!
🖤 I'm grateful for water.
Tana woke lying in a bathtub. #firstlinefridays
I've bailed on this one in the past, but I'm hoping it was just bad timing, so I'm giving it another go.
Definitely reading this book slow because I have a feeling I'm gonna be sad when it ends. It's so eerie and exciting.
This is gonna be good.....chapter 1 read and I am fully invested!!!! 🌃
Wow! Just wow! And to think, I almost didn't read this awesome book. I should've known better. I give this book 5/5✨ I just wish there was more.💯💙🖤
I love Holly Black. I love love her writing. This book I did not love. It‘s started out strong and but then totally lost me. Maybe it was the corny YA aspect of the main characters personality, idk. it was gritty and violent and a cool concept but slogged. Some parts I loved, other parts like the chapters from different timelines and POV were boring

"Tana woke lying in a bathtub. Her legs were drawn up, her cheek pressed against the cold metal of the faucet."
Just got inside from snow blowing and with the temps at a solid -19 I am going to stay curled up with my blanket and cup of coffee for a while!

Day 22
I love this book! I wish there was a sequel. It was so freaking good. Read it! Just read it!!
My current look. Not pictured: my feet in both socks snd slippers under the blanket. 🤣🤣
My first Holly Black novel and it pulled no punches. For YA, this was gory, dark, and at times very bleak — exactly what a vampire story should be.
I LOVED this gritty YA vampire story. The perfect mixture of danger and glamour and the vampire romance I‘ve been looking for.
Of course a holly blacks book will always be amazing, although things did feel a little rushed in this one
This was a dark and haunting tale, filled with blood and betrayal. Written in a style that blends past and present, the story unfolds piece by piece. It reveals broken and flawed characters, each with their own burdens from a tormented past. This isn‘t a book for those who like a light read. Taking on this experience is going to require a taste for horror.

Next library book. I'm on a roll. 5th book in the last week & a half. Loved Black's Cruel Prince series, so I have high hopes for this one. 🙂
Book 8 finished for #screamathon. 🎃 @4thhouseontheleft
This was a fun book about vampires, with some interesting changes to the typical vampire tale. Although I read lots of YA books, this one to me just didn't quite work. I'm sure a teen would disagree and love the teenage romance aspect, but it and the teen angst started to get on my nerves toward the end.

Okay I know I‘m likely in the minority, but this is the 2nd Holly Black book I‘ve read & I just can‘t quite get into it. I‘m 50% through this current read and thinking about bailing...
