"The only thing you ll find on the summit of Mount Everest is a divine view. The things that really matter lie far below." Peak MarcelloAfter fourteen-year-old Peak Marcello is arrested for scaling a New York City skyscraper, he's left with two choices: wither away in Juvenile Detention or go live with his long-lost father, who runs a climbing company in Thailand. But Peak quickly learns that his father's renewed interest in him has strings attached. "Big" strings. As owner of Peak Expeditions, he wants his son to be the youngest person to reach the Everest summit--and his motives are selfish at best. Even so, for a climbing addict like Peak, tackling Everest is the challenge of a lifetime. But it's also one that could cost him his life. Roland Smith has created an action-packed adventure about friendship, sacrifice, family, and the drive to take on Everest, despite the incredible risk. The story of Peak s dangerous ascent told in his own words is suspenseful, immediate, and impossible to put down."

Mehso-so

My 7th graders are reading this novel as part of a narrative unit. It‘s definitely not my favorite, but it could be worse. I don‘t usually like adventure/survival novels, so this was very average. Some kids love it, others can‘t wait to be done (and I‘m with them 😂).

KathyWheeler Two of my favorites when I was a kid were My Side of the Mountain and Island of the Blue Dolphins. I probably would have enjoyed this one too. 😊 3y
cewilf @KathyWheeler I also loved Island of the Blue Dolphins! I think I liked those novels more when I was younger, but that‘s one I‘ve wanted to reread for a while. 3y
KathyWheeler @cewilf I bought it recently to reread but I haven‘t done so yet. 3y

Pickpick

Peak was a good book about an expert climber, attempting to be the youngest person to climb Mount Everest, which is a big change compared to skyscrapers. however, the book is more about the father-son relationship between the main character and his biological father, and had a somewhat bittersweet ending.

In this middle grade book, Peak joins his famous mountain-climbing dad on an expedition to Mount Everest. He learns about hard work, the importance of family and friends, and being responsible. #PrinceofJuly #Mountains @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @vkois88

Cortg I adored this book! There are 2 more in the series but I haven‘t read them. Another middle grades book that is similar but is a memoir is No Summit Out of Sight, pretty much amazing! 6y
CoffeeNBooks @Cortg I haven't read any of the others in this series, either. I'll have to check out No Summit Out of Sight. Thanks! 6y

Peak is an action-packed adventure story about a 14 year old boy trying to please his father by becoming the youngest person to climb Everest.

HELLO! At the moment I am trying to cram in as much books as possible because the end of the year is nearing, and I don't want to have the books I planned to finish still in my TBR list.

Right now I am reading Peak by Roland Smith which is a very good book if you haven't read if. I myself am in the middle of the book, and it is very humorous, and I can find myself laughing at times.

Be sure to check out the book, you surely won't regret it!
