7️⃣ Read this during some travel, dealt with some heavy issues but also light hearted and heart warming in places. I would read more by Dawn.
3 woman. Their lives are not what they outwardly portray. A funny story for the "insta-perfect" generation and a reminder that everyone is facing a battle you know nothing about.
“Everyone has something”
Ain‘t that the truth!?!!
I thought this book was going to be mindless fluff, but Nooooooo…There‘s body positivity, motherhood, hidden illnesses (PCOS), social media(toxicity), mental health, female friendship and SEX (lots of sex). It‘s about what we perceive about others, and what others want us to assume about them. There‘s one bit towards the end, I didn‘t like, but that‘s probably more me.

Here we go @KarenUK xxx I LOVE the cover and the author‘s narration - gorgeous voice
I just woke up to an email from the #HanukkahFairy aka @KarenUK

Thank you so much for everything - I seriously love it all and had forgotten I'd stacked those two books, so they were a very pleasant surprise! 😂
Honestly love this book so much!! Being a PCOS sufferer myself it was so good to read something with a suffering character.. I couldnt believe it when I realised she has the same thing as me and it has already made me feel better about myself. Its a very powerful book, I had such vivid images of it and felt so stuck in it, it was like watching a TV series!
@KarenUK thanks for putting this on my radar! It was the book I didn‘t know I needed, even though it‘ a bit too much at times. While being wonderful #braincandy this book manages to represent different women‘s experiences and problems, and I‘m here for it! It was fun, it touched me in ways I hadn‘t expected, and it helped me escape from my busy mind 🙌

(Sorry for long review!)
The ‘So Lucky‘ of the title, refers to the way we look at other people‘s lives from the outside with envy, but that our perception is so rarely the reality. Similarly, this raunchy and raucous Chic-lit (sorry, hate that term) is so fun and fluffy on the surface, yet beneath it‘s (at times) heavy-handed facade, lies some real truth about women‘s lives. A bit ambitious for me, but we‘ll see how it goes.... 🤷♀️
First 6 are all #ARCs for books releasing this month... (including my #bookspin) I always request too many! 🤦♀️😂
Shadow Tag is my #doublespin and been on my shelf for an embarrassingly long time!
Knockout Queen is for my IRL bookclub, So Lucky is for #booked2021 and my final 3 are for #CampTOB (though one relies on me getting an #ARC approval!)
So.... I enjoyed the character development in this book and the connection between the 3 women. A great theme of mental health which is really relevant.
Beth shows that women really can have it all. Ruby lives life by her own rules. And then there‘s Lauren, living the dream. But is anyone‘s life as perfect as it looks? Beth hasn‘t had sex in a year. Ruby feels like she‘s failing. Lauren‘s happiness is fake news. And it just takes one shocking event to make the truth come tumbling out…
Funny , easy listen , tad rude 😅 , women managing their inner demons , girl power,
This was hilarious, raunchy, and quite sweet. But it was also predictable and in your face, which got a bit too much for me by the end. Probably best for the beach or for when you need complete escapism, if you like this sort of book🏖

Been trying to avoid bailing on this one all week...but I‘m just not feeling it! 144 pages in and I‘m not remotely invested in the story. One for another time, perhaps!

I absolutely love Dawn O'Porter. Her books are hilarious. And raw. And rude. And real. When I first started her previous novel, The Cows, I was expecting chick lit, clever & snarky, but chick lit nonetheless. Well, that one and this new offering raise that much maligned genre, transcend it almost, with writing that is just so razor sharp, so compelling that I bow down to its sheer glory. So good, so funny, so CRINGE! 🤣🤣🤣
Excited to start this one - not least because I think the cover is absolutely fabulous! I LOVED Dawn O'Porter's The Cows - it was outrageous, hilarious, tragic and thought provoking and, really, what more do you want from a book?! This one has a lot to live up to but I'm pretty sure Dawn has the chops!
With thanks to #netgalley for this book.
What a great fun story of women being honest about who they are and accepting themselves. I like O‘Porter‘s style of writing like you‘re talking to your mates, it‘s funny, open and very readable.
I have just finished this ARC in one day. I loved it so much and would definitely recommend.
