The three Pine kids truly belong in the bushland. And they have nicknames to match - Resin, Turps and Columbine. They like fishing for yabbies, taming unusual pets, riding in the local show and astonishing their teachers. But their usual adventures are nothing compared to the dire events that take place when somebody lets loose the February Dragon - the dreaded bushfire.

February turned out to be a slow reading month for me. I couldn't concentrate well due to anxiety. I did really enjoy Plain Bad Heroines and Bluebird, Bluebird, both were 5 stars. The Ickabog was a little disappointing and the Strivers' Row Spy didn't quite flow. The rest were really good. I hope March is a more productive month.

Forgot about setting my goals this month 😅 I swear it‘s a wonder I even know what day it is anymore. This month I hope to:
☠️Read 6 books
☠️ Try to drink some water every day (water tastes metallic to me so I‘ve always had a hard time drinking it)
☠️Move a little more than usual most days.

Just trying to get out of bed is an accomplishment these days so I‘m not being super specific with my goals. We‘ll see how the month goes. @wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn Does bottled water taste that way too? Normally tap water that tastes metallic may have a high concentration of iron. https://epa-water.com/does-your-tap-water-taste-metallic-find-out-why-and-how-to... 4y
wanderinglynn And good goals! 🙌🏻 It‘s good to be flexible with your goals. 👍🏻 4y
RainyDayReading @wanderinglynn Some bottled stuff does and some doesn‘t. Hmmm never thought about the iron concentration before 🤔 4y
wanderinglynn My day job is environmental attorney. These are the types of things I‘m paid to think about. 😉 4y

An Australian children's classic about a bushfire. Terrified me when I was a child.

I added a few books to my TBR for February! I hope to add at least 3 kindle books as well. I don't usually read Nicholas Sparks because romance makes me gag a little. However, Safe Haven has been on my TBR shelf for so long that I'm ready for it to find a more permanent home on my shelves. And, it's the month of romance, so I guess I can suck it up! Happy reading, friends! #TBRFebruary

Reviewsbylola Midwives is great and Chelsea Handler always makes me laugh. 8y
Josie @Reviewsbylola I'm so excited for both of those! I ordered every Chelsea book at one time a few years ago, and I have been slowly getting through them all. 8y
julesG The colour scheme for your TBR is great. 😉 8y

Bkwurm I hear you about N.Sparks. 😜 But Cold Mountain is incredible. It held onto me for months after I finished it. Great list! 8y
monkeygirlsmama Ooh lots of good books here. Enjoy! 🙂This was a great Koontz book too, if I recall correctly. (edited) 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I've not read any Nicholas Sparks but I've been burnt by his movies... I try to avoid them now (although the casting is usually excellent so it's always a constant struggle) I love the dancing skeletons! 8y
Josie @julesG haha thanks! Not even planned! 8y
Josie @Bkwurm I'm so excited about Cold Mountain. And as far as Sparks go, I only read his books that my aunt recommends. And she tries not to give me any that are too mushy 8y
Josie @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I feel you on that struggle! There are always great people in his movies, but they never turn out that great! 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Josie, the last one I really struggled with had Josh Duhamel in it (Safe Haven?) but I managed to talk myself out of it (he's better in TV stuff anyway) 8y
Tillie Cold Mountain by Fraser is a 5 star read! 8y
Larkken Ugh feel you on the Sparks. The movies are heavy handed and the twist at the end never fails to make me really pi**ed, even when I see it coming. Never tried the books as a result! 8y
Smashlee The first 2 Sparks books I read I loved. The Notebook still makes me ugly cry. Then they all started running together. 8y
Suet624 Cold Mountain - the writing was beautiful but I have to admit I threw it against the wall. 8y

No I did not skip a month. I'm working on a photo challenge for February (short 14 days) but I seem to be small on ideas. I have about half, but thought I would seek out your ideas.

Pickpick

This book HAUNTS me! An utterly devastating exploration of the ferocity and terror of Australian bushfires. The atmosphere and emotion of this book are so compelling and the setting feels absolutely realistic and familiar. A book that for many will hit close to home.

aentee Ahhh that sounds amazing and I must have it. 8y
